Rihanna's music sees 640% Spotify streaming jump after Super Bowl performance, 'Umbrella' and 'We Found Love' among top gainers
GLENDALE, ARIZONA: After her performance at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show on February 12, Rihanna asserted her power again by taking over streaming services. Following her 13-minute performance, the 34-year-old hitmaker's music streaming on Spotify jumped by more than 640 percent in the US, claims the streaming platform.
Her non-album single 'B**** Better Have My Money' experienced one of the highest spikes in streaming. The song's US Spotify streaming stats increased by more than 2,600%. It was still a smash, although perhaps not as well recognized as her album-based singles.

After it was revealed she would be the only performer at halftime, her streaming numbers on the platform saw a drastic rise even before she took the stage. Three of her tracks hit the billion-play threshold on Spotify when it was revealed that she would be performing during Super Bowl on September 25 of last year, as per Daily Mail.
In addition to 'Love On The Brain', which was not performed, two of the songs that made it onto her Super Bowl setlist—'Umbrella' and 'We Found Love'—passed the one billion streaming milestone. Streaming of her music jumped by 640 percent after the performance, and several of her songs saw a sudden rise in popularity.
'Diamonds,' 'Rude Boy,' and 'We Found Love' were all played repeatedly, in addition to 'B**** Better Have My Money,' which had a particularly prominent role as her set opener. 'Diamonds' streaming climbed by 1,400%, 'Rude Boy' streaming increased by 1,170%, and 'We Found Love' streaming jumped by 1,160%.
While Rihanna's music appropriately saw a rise, given her halftime show performance was one of the evening's highlights, other artists who were onstage earlier in the evening also experienced a noticeable uptick in Spotify streaming.
Other artists who saw increase in Spotify streaming
Country rocker Chris Stapleton's streaming on the platform increased by 65% as a result of his rendition of the 'Star-Spangled Banner.' Sheryl Lee Ralph, an actor, singer, and Broadway star best known for her role in 'Abbott Elementary', witnessed a 70% rise in her streaming numbers following the game. She performed 'Lift Every Voice And Sing', the Black National Anthem, live before the game.
The streaming of team-specific music increased in the two cities that hosted the Super Bowl teams. Named after the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Migos' 'Mahomes' enjoyed great success in Kansas City. The fans also liked Tech N9ne's 'KCMO Anthem', Irv Da PHENOM's 'Red & Yellow', which featured Cash Image and B.e.e., and 'Winner Winner' by Ronny E.
'No One Likes Us/Fly Eagles Fly' by Go Go Gadget was particularly well-liked in the Philadelphia Eagles area. Even Elton John's song 'Philadelphia Freedom' showed an uptick in streaming, proving his appeal among Eagles supporters.
