Fans get #ReleaseTheSnyderCut trending after 'Justice League' director Zack Snyder shares a new photo of Steppenwolf in S.T.A.R. labs
For a long time, Zack Snyder's 'Justice League' had become almost close to a frenzied myth for fans. Snyder had to stop work on 'Justice League' (2017) due to his daughter Autumn's death, and Joss Whedon took over. The film that was released in theaters was slammed by critics and fans alike.
Yet, fans believe that a Snyder version of the film seems to be paying off, as Snyder has been quietly sharing unseen black-and-white stills from the film.
The big bad, Steppenwolf, in the film had received much flak. This time, Snyder shared a still of Steppenwolf infiltrating S.T.A.R labs. The theatrical film did not show him entering the labs, we just see an exterior shot of a Boom Tube as Steppenwolf obtains the Motherbox.
In the new image, the words "What is the secret of the grail?" are written.
Fans are beside themselves with excitement, and the call to release the original cut of the film has never been louder. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has begun to trend again on Twitter.
One fan wrote, "Zack cannot stop. He doesn't tempt us with the Holy Grail, he promises it. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut."
The campaign for Snyder's film has been going on for ages now, and fans are convinced that the original version of the film which is truer to Snyder's vision is on the way. "Zack joined the 214 campaign," tweeted a fan.
Fans appreciated the look of Steppenwolf in this new design. One wrote, "This confirms that he will keeping that design of steppenwolf. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut jesus I want this movie."
"Zack ATTACK with his clue games again! And look how MUCH better Steppenwolf looks like," tweeted another.
"I can't explain how much I would rather have seen the Justice League taking on a darker, more aggressive, almost horror-looking Steppenwolf and co. That contrast makes the heroics much greater. Just like the journey makes Superman's return greater. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut," one fan tweeted.
The whispers about Snyder's version of tbe film started doing the rounds after the theatrical release in 2017. However, the film that hit the theaters, fell far short of expectations and upset Snyder's biggest fans. Since then, the hashtag movement began, for Snyder to release the original film that he had planned. In November, Snyder had shared unseen images of Henry Cavill's Superman in the hero's trademark uniform, and another which appears to be from a resurrection scene. This appears to be different from the scene shown in the theatrical 'Justice League'. Recently, the actors in the film, including Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot also joined the campaign.
