LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reese Witherspoon is apparently leaning on her first husband, Ryan Phillippe, as she deals with another painful divorce from Jim Toth. The actress, 47, and the CAA talent agent, 52, announced they were parting ways in a joint statement on March 24, just days before their 12-year wedding anniversary.

The exes share a 10-year-son son, Tennessee James, while the 'Home Again' star and ex-husband Phillippe share daughter Ava Elizabeth, 23, and son Deacon Reese, 19. Recently, insiders spilled the tea on Philippe and Witherspoon's bond.

'She knows she can lean on him'

"Even though she and Ryan have had their differences and they still don't see eye-to-eye on certain things, she knows she can lean on him," a source told Radar Online of Witherspoon. "Plus, he's the father of her kids [Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19]. The 'Cruel Intentions' costars, who tied the knot in 1999 and split in 2006, recently reunited while attending Deacon's album release party in Los Angeles on April 16.

The source told Radar Online that the exes were happy to put on a united front as a family for their son. "Everyone had a really nice time," the insider shared. It seems Phillippe, 48, also echoed the sentiment as he posted a series of photos from the soiree, including a family snap of his ex-wife, on Instagram. "Awesome night w family & friends celebrating the release of 'A New Earth' by @deaconphillippe!!" he wrote.

Witherspoon and Philippe were married from 1999 to 2008 and have co-parented their children quite successfully over the years. The 'Legally Blonde' star is now undergoing her second divorce after announcing the end of her 12-year union with Toth. She announced the split on social media on March 24. "It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together," the Hollywood starlet wrote.

'Longing for a fresh start'

Sources told Radar Online that the pair had been facing troubles in their marriage for a while and that they are now in a rush to settle their divorce since both are "longing for a fresh start." Court documents revealed that Witherspoon agreed to joint custody of their son and that they signed a prenup before their wedding, so there won't be any finance-related clash that holds up their divorce. Meanwhile, another source told People that the decision was "not an easy one" for the actress.

"The divorce decision was not an easy one for her. It was rough to reach the decision and to announce it," they said. "Reese is doing much better now though. She has no regrets and is just focused on her kids and work." Besides Phillipe, Witherspoon's 'Morning Show' co-host Jennifer Aniston is also helping her through the process, insiders claimed.
