QUINCY, ILLINOIS: Tim Bliefnick, the estranged husband of Rebecca Bliefnick, has been arrested on Monday, March 13, in connection with her death. He is accused of fatally shooting her to death at her home on Thursday, February 23, according to authorities in Illinois. During a press conference held by the Quincy police department, chief Adam Yates said that the 41-year-old nurse did not make it to school to pick up her children and a family member found her dead at her home.

Tim, 39, was taken into custody after he was charged with murder and home invasion. Yates said, "Today’s development is a significant step forward in the search for justice for Rebecca,"  and noted that the "assistance and cooperation of the public was the key to moving this investigation forward."

'Heinous and premeditated act'

Calling it a "brutal crime," Yates said that the arrest of Tim would "calm the concerns" of people in Quincy who are "on the edge" and "living in fear" following the horrifying death of Rebecca. During the press conference, Attorney Gary L Farha of Adams County State thanked the investigators and his staff for contributing to the case. The prosecutors called the death an "act of domestic violence" and not a "random act of violence" as the "horrific crime" resulted from his "heinous and premeditated act", reported Law and Crime. Talking to reporters, Yates shared that no additional arrests are likely to be made at this point in time. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, March 14, at 1.30 pm.

Rebeccca had 'fierce love for her family'

Following the death of Rebecca, Tim's car and rental home were searched. The suspect was described as 'estranged' in the report as they were in the middle of a divorce since two years. In a GoFundMe campaign, Becky's sister Sarah Reilly called the mother-of-three her "best friend" who "lived a "life of compassion, generosity, faith, and had fierce love for her family."

Railley said, "She leaves behind three young children and an entire community who loved her more than anything. Becky (Rebecca) always envisioned herself working hands-on in the medical profession, so it was no surprise when she chose a career in nursing — her true calling — where she was able to provide care and comfort to people on a daily basis. Moving forward, our whole family will lovingly support and care for the boys for the rest of their lives in the ways we know Becky would want. To do this well, we have established this GoFundMe with the goal of establishing a scholarship fund in Becky’s name as well as to help with family expenses related to Becky’s death and the future care of her boys." More than $54, 000 has been raised by GoFundMe as of Monday afternoon.
