QUINCY, ILLINOIS: The brutal murder of Rebecca Bliefnick, who was fatally shot after she failed to pick up her three children from school, has shaken the community. On Wednesday, March 1, police raided the home of the 41-year-old woman's estranged husband Tim, 39, but he has not been named a suspect in the murder, arrested or charged. However, uncomfirmed reports alleged Bliefnick had filed an order of protection against Tim.
Bliefnick's relative found her bullet-riddled body on February 23 inside her home at 2528 Kentucky Road in Quincy, WGEM reported. The relative had gone to check on her after she did not pick up her children from St Peter School, Muddy River News reported. Police arrived at the crime scene shortly after and were joined by a member of the Adams County State Attorney’s Office.

Rebecca Bliefnick filed an order of protection against Tim
Bliefnick allegedly filed an order of protection against Tim and vice-versa, per websleuths.com. Citing a source, a user said Bliefnick also filed an order of protection against her father-in-law.
"It looks like divorce proceedings began in January 2021. (still ongoing. Last court event was in April 2023)," a user wrote, citing the source, adding, "She filed an order of protection against him, and he against her at the same time in Sept 2021. Both cases were closed in Oct 2021. She then filed an order of protection against her FIL in Dec 2021, and the file was closed at the end of Dec 2021."
According to Nycourts, an order of protection is, "A legal document in which a Judge orders someone to follow specific conditions of behavior that is, tells someone things that they must or must not do. Police can make immediate arrests if they have reason to believe those conditions have been violated. The purpose of a Temporary Order of Protection is to maintain peace and provide protection until all the facts have been gathered and the case is heard in Court. When the Court is convinced that someone has committed an offense or endangered the person protected by the Order, a final Order is issued. In New York, every Order has a specific expiration date. Under certain circumstances, Orders may be extended or renewed."
Who is Tim Bliefnick?
According to Tim's Facebook profile, he worked at Federal International Recycling and Waste Solutions and is a former General Manager at Quincy Recycle. His LinkedIn profile says he went to Quincy University and Saint Teresa High School.
A 2020 post by the TV program 'Family Feud' shows Tim as a participant, interacting with Steve Harvey as part of the part show.
Tim's attorney has said he was "not surprised" a search warrant was issued. “Given the circumstances, it is not surprising that the search warrant was issued and executed,” Casey Schnack said, according to The Independent, adding, “My only surprise is that it took this long to do. It is just as important that QPD conduct such as investigation to rule Tim OUT as a suspect so that investigative efforts can be spent elsewhere”
Authorities said in a statement, “The information learned and evidence gathered over the last six days has led us to this point in our investigation. During a criminal investigation, it is not unusual to obtain and serve numerous search warrants for a variety of reasons. Search warrants are a normal part of the investigative process.”
