A 'rare' in the small town of 40000
Police are startled by the fact that such a terrible crime has been witnessed in the little town of 40000 residents as they ask the public to be "patient" in the hunt for a potential suspect. Rebecca was married to Tim Bliefnick and the couple had three sons, however, it is believed that they were living apart at the time of her death.
The Daily Mail reported that officers responded to her home at 3:32 pm after the crime was reported, and have remained on site since, removing evidence from the property. Police Chief Adam Yates said that such a violent crime is "rare" in the small town.
According to local law enforcement, there are eight investigators working on the case. Meanwhile, her friends and family have circulated photographs of her with the words "justice for Becky" and the police department's phone number on them. Police in the latest update on 1 March announced they temporarily detained an individual at the 2000 block of Hampshire who was later released. Her husband, Tim Bliefnick, 39, lives at the property, and it is understood that the pair were undergoing divorce proceedings, the outlet reported.
'Our community is shaken'
Police Chief Adam Yates in a statement said, "The Quincy community has not experienced a crime of this magnitude since early 2019. All death is tragic; the circumstances of Bliefnick’s murder are incomprehensible. Our community is shaken, and on edge and they want answers."
"When a crime like this occurs, it becomes our mission to ensure there is justice for the victim and a restored sense of security for our residents," the statement added.
"We are fortunate to live in a community where violent crime such as this, is rare," Yates added. "When it happens, it is devastating. Nothing I say here tonight will put our community at ease. Making an arrest in this case is the only way to do that. We are working very hard to make that happen. This investigation is our highest priority."
