German football club RasenBallsport Leipzig and French football club Paris Saint Germain are all set to clash with each other in the semifinal match of the UEFA Champions League on August 18. After the Covid-19 outbreak halted the league mid-March, the European competition is back with the best football teams from across the continent.

This year's game has taken a strange turn. With none of the finalists from the last six years of the competition in the lead, the 1992 Champions League does not feature a single team from England, Spain or Italy. Moreover, did you know that this will be the first competitive match between RB Leipzig and Paris SG and both the teams are contesting to reach the finals for the first time? RB Leipzig would be the seventh German team to reach the final and PSG would be the first French team to reach the showpiece since Monaco in 2003-2004.

Pre-buzz

The German side is into the final four for the first time in history after a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in the last round. Under coach Julian Nagelsmann's guidance, they have scored at least two goals in every match and are expected to be in full form for the semis too.

With coach Thomas Tuchel and led by Red Bull-sponsored Neymar, PSG is all set to perform their very best. As per a First Post report, PSG midfielder Ander Herrera said through a translator: "We don’t want to talk about pressure. It’s a great opportunity for us to be here in the semifinals of the Champions League. We are living a dream at the moment. We are ready for it, we are well prepared. We are not talking about any pressure."

On Twitter, many fans are disheartened as their favorite teams could not make it to the semi-finals. One fan said, "Potential RB Leipzig vs. PSG semi-final I'm actually disgusted at what my sport has become."

"The last time PSG vs RB Leipzig, this happens. Will it be the same again for next week?" one tweet read. Another said, "Lyon vs Bayern RB Leipzig vs PSG Worst semi-finals ever since I am watching UCL and if it's not PSG vs Bayern in finals then it will be worst final also in recent times."

Who will win?

With the unpredictable range of teams in the semi-final tournament, this season’s Champions League is a treat for neutral fans. Most experts feel that it will be a gamble this time around and sports buffs can come to have a good time and cheer for the winner.

Nevertheless, RB Leipzig secured their semi-final spot at Atletico Madrid's expense barely two minutes from time. The German side proved they are able to match Europe's heavyweights and many are betting for them to win. Boosted by Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe, PSG, too, clinched their place in the last few minutes and they may give a strong competition to RB Leipzig. A lot of PSG fans have predicted a 3-0 win and are rooting for them to clinch the golden opportunity as anything short of a win will be a major disappointment for the club.

We predict both teams will score in this game. Who do you think will win? Tell us in the comments below.
