Rapper YFN Lucci, who is best known for his hit single ‘Key to the Streets', is wanted by Atlanta police for murder over a shootout that took place on December 10, 2020. According to the reports published by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the hip-hop artist whose real name is Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, was involved in a shooting that left one man dead and another injured last month in southwest Atlanta, as revealed by the authorities.

According to the publication, Atlanta police on Tuesday, January 12, announced in a news release that the 29-year-old rapper is wanted on murder, aggravated assault, participating in criminal street gang activity and a weapons charge. Two other people reportedly identified as 23-year-old Ra’von Boyd and 17-year-old Leroy Pitts were arrested on similar charges in Miami for their alleged roles in the same incident.

What exactly happened?

The report published by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that 28-year-old James Adams was the victim of the shootout and he was found with a gunshot wound to the head in December 2020 in the 900 block of Peeples Street, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries later. Adams’ body was dropped off nearby and the officers also found multiple shell casings at the scene. A second gunshot victim was also reported at a nearby fire station, however, the 32-year-old victim survived the shooting. It was later discovered that both the shootout incidents were related.

Rapper YFN Lucci was involved in a shooting incident in May 2020 in Atlanta where his Mercedes SUV was riddled with bullets. According to TMZ, the police found a man injured, but it was said the rapper wasn't the victim. Sources said the casualty told the police he was at the wheel when the shots rang out, piercing through the vehicle and striking him on his left shoulder.

A lot of social media users took to Twitter to speak on the matter where a majority of them said how YFN Lucci wasted his hustle and career by getting involved in a situation like this. One user posted, “What’s the point of grinding hard asl to get out the hood only to still be involved in dumb s**t.” Another expressed, “Just throw away your life, kids, and riches for nothing.” One individual asserted, “What’s the point of working to be a well known artist if you still gonna involve yourself in stupid a** situations.”

One shared, “that’s what they know, were raised around. it’s the fast lifestyle that keeps them one foot in one foot out, loyalty to theirs and negligence to a different way. it’s super sad but end of the day you make your bed you lay in it.” Another added, “Hope he didn’t do it, not another king wasting his life away to prove he hard.” One user said, “No damn prayers. This fool may have murdered somebody. I know guilty until proven innocent...but there is a survivor. Not looking good for him ! But we'll see.”



 



 



 



 



 



 

Who is rapper YFN Lucci?

The Atlanta-based hip-hop artist got signed to record label Think It’s A Game Entertainment in 2014 and he dropped his debut mixtape titled ‘Wish Me Well’ the same year. He released the sequel to the mixtape called ‘Wish Me Well 2’ in the year 2016 which included the breakthrough single ‘Key to the Streets'. A subsequent remix of the track also featured Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. In 2018, he released his first studio album ‘Ray Ray From Summerhill’ which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart.
