The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge. For a long time, people had their bets placed on the idea that the royal family will be naming the third baby Albert. At the same time, Arthur was also one of the contenders in the long list of names people had in mind. The Duchess of Cambridge and William welcomed their baby boy on Monday (May 23). A tweet made on the Kensington Palace account announced the child's birth.

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs," the tweet read. "The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth." The palace also updated people about the health of the baby and Kate and noted that both the mother and son were "doing well".

The couple is already proud parents of two children and now with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis will be fifth in the line to the throne.

The preparation to welcome the third child of Prince William and Kate had started in April itself. Since the first week of April, numerous 'No Parking' stickers had been cropped up outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital. At the same time, banners had been erected outside the wing in preparation for the hordes of media and well-wishers expected to turn up when the Duchess went into labor. There were also notices in South Wharf Road, suspending parking from April 9 to April 30 for an “event.”

A little while after the new Prince was born, Kate and William had emerged from the hospital and given the world a glimpse of their baby boy. Previously, the Palace had made the announcement for the name of Prince George and Princess Charlotte within two days of their birth but this time, things were different. However, it was definitely worth the wait!
