As more and more details of 'Megxit' continue to unravel, it has now been claimed that Prince Harry decided to fast track plans for both himself and the Meghan Markle to step down as 'senior royals' as he was worried she would have a 'meltdown' if they remained in the UK.

According to The Sun, the Duke of Sussex had been growing increasingly worried about his wife's wellbeing, as life at Buckingham Palace reportedly left her "on the brink".

As a result of this, the statement announcing the couple stepping down as senior royals was rushed out in haste, while plans for the two of them to spend time in North America was escalated.

Courtiers reveal that Mehan felt more comfortable to stay back in Canada while Harry returned to the UK to deal with the fallout of their decision—something that will come to head during the planned Sandringham summit on Monday.

There, Harry will come face to face with his father Prince Charles and his older brother Prince William, along with his grandmother, the Queen, who is said to be quite worried about Harry's own mental wellbeing.

Both Harry and Meghan have been heavily invested in mental health charities and initiatives, and back in May last year, they first made it clear that they would like to break themselves off from what they claim were stifling constraints of life inside "The Firm".

According to sources' accounts, Harry and Meghan found the slow pace of the Palace life 'painful' and that Meghan wished to 'take back control' of her work and charitable ventures.

Another source told The Sun: "The statement was rushed out and part of the reason for that is that Harry knew he needed to take swift action. Meghan has not settled in the UK and he knows that and wants her to be happy."

The source revealed that the couple's six-week break in Canada helped Meghan decide that their family would be better off splitting their time across the ocean. They added that this pressured Harry to move quickly as he feared staying in the UK any longer would end up with Meghan "having a meltdown."

As all of this unfolds, courtiers are looking for a face-saving measure inside the palace that will keep the family together, and the monarchy's dignity intact.

The news comes as William—the Duke of Cambridge has claimed he is unable to even "put an arm round" his younger brother now after a rift between the two saw them growing apart in the last one year.

The Sussexes' decision to quit being senior royals widened the gap between the two brothers as William is reportedly 'incandescent with rage' over his brother blindsiding the family. "I've put my arm around my brother all our lives and I can't do that anymore... We're separate entities," William has said of the situation, according to the Sunday Times.
