Prince's half-brother and heir to the musician, Alfred Jackson, has died at age 66. Another of Prince's siblings, Tyka Nelson, confirmed the sad news of Jackson's passing on Facebook, last Thursday. "This morning my older beloved brother Alfred passed on," Nelson wrote on Facebook. "Thank u for respecting our privacy at this time & 4 being so nice 2 him."

According to TMZ, Jackson was found unresponsive by his brother at around 10:30 am in his Kansas City, Missouri, home. It is believed by the police that he died of natural causes since foul play was not involved. The Vietnam veteran had served in the Air Force and then lived for a long time at the St. Cloud, Minnesota, VA Medical Center after being honorably discharged.

Jackson was born to Mattie Baker, Prince’s mother, who went on to marry John L. Nelson, Prince's father. Prince passed away on April 2016 of an accidental opioid overdose at his Paisley Park compound in suburban Minneapolis. This has led to a still-ongoing legal battle over the estate, with a judge confirming Prince's six siblings as the rightful heirs to the property in 2017. Nelson was one of the siblings, alongside five other half-siblings: Jackson, Sharon Nelson, Norrine Nelson, John R. Nelson and Omarr Baker.

In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jackson said that he had not seen or spoken with Prince for about 15 years then. But he did add that even in early childhood Prince was quite gifted musically. "My brother was everything in the world to me," Jackson said in the interview. "God bless Prince, God bless the world. He's a legend, he really is."
