'Predator' star Jesse Ventura lauds Hulu's 'Prey', calls it 'thoughtful' and 'creative'
Jesse Ventura, one of the stars from the original 1987 'Predator' was lavish in his praise of the new Hulu prequel, 'Prey'. After the film's debut on August 5, Ventura who played Blaine, one of the commandoes from Arnold Schwarzenegger's elite Commando unit took to Twitter to congratulate the star of the movie, Amber Midthunder by quoting a line from the OG flick.
"#PreyMovie Great, great, film," Ventura tweeted by quoting a famous line from the original, "@AmberMidthunder you definitely ain't got time to bleed. Welcome to the Predator family. @DannyTRS Thank you for making such a thoughtful, creative, and wonderful film." The movie stars Midthunder as Naru, a skilled hunter who takes on the iconic alien creature after it first arrives on the earth. While it hunts victims with its high-tech arsenal, Naru must rely on the skills and techniques of the Comanche tribe to kill the creature.

The actress also replied to Ventura: "I just… I don't know how to.. thank you @GovJVentura!" And director Dan Trachtenberg, who also helmed '10 Cloverfield Lane', responded: "Im on the floor. Thank you, sir! Thanks for watching and so glad you appreciated what we did!!" At the time of writing, the movie holds a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with the critic consensus reading, "The rare action thriller that spikes adrenaline without skimping on character development, Prey is a Predator sequel done right."
In related news, the 'Prey' filmmakers "were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples." The film boasts of a Native Comanche producer, Jhane Myers, plus a cast "comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation's talent." Ahead of the film's release, Midthunder, in an interview with THR shed light on Indigenous representation in a legendary Hollywood franchise. "You very rarely get good representation — good being accurate, respectful or something to be proud about. ... This is the first time you get to see an Indigenous female action hero at the center of a film. That in and of itself is a really incredible statement."
Prey is now streaming on Hulu.
