When will 'Power Book II: Ghost' Season 2 air? Season 1 Ending Explained and what to expect when show returns

Can we all agree that the finale was all 'Power' fans have come to expect and want? Just like showrunner Courtney Kemp promised, Tariq figured out that the only way to survive was to become his father — only better. By the end of the episode, Tariq killed Professor Jabari like a stone-cold killer. This was to be expected. Jabari was too smart for his own good, knew too much about the drug operation and, not to forget, was planning to write a book with details of Tariq's life. The eminently unlikeable character is now dead and that's something to celebrate really.
Jabari thought he would get away with his shenanigans, like when he wrote the book on his relationship with sex-addicted Professor Carrie. But this time, he picked someone he shouldn't have messed with.
Tariq showed that he is as much a monster as Ghost, with as much darkness in his heart. Only he is better at getting away with it all. Killing Jabari meant that he finally got right with Monet and earned Cane's respect. He is now a part of the Tejada family, another adopted son if you will, and this dynamic is going to be interesting to watch in Season 2.
Tariq also stopped Monet from killing Tommy Egan when she pulled a gun on him. This was a moment that fans of the character Tommy sweated buckets over. Yes, you read that right. The 'Power' fandom went into a collective spasm when Tommy Egan made his return, stepping out with 'Many Men' playing as the background score and met Tariq earlier in the episode before the showdown at the bar.
Not only did Tariq save Tommy from Monet and the Feds, but he also saved his mom Tasha from Tommy. Just like this season, we'll see her for limited durations in Season 2 as she is now in the witness protection program. But Tommy is plenty mad about not being able to kill Tasha and we will probably see more of that when his 'book' aka 'Power Book IV: Force' airs.
But now for the bad news. Guess who is the cat with nine lives who survived this season as well despite everything NOT going as he had expected. Cooper Saxe, that's who! He survived 'Power' and he will return for Season 2 of 'Power Book II: Ghost' as well. Tariq flipped the script on both Cooper Saxe and Davis MacLean in court, paying them back in their own coin. But this also means Saxe and MacLaean are going to team up for real now with Tariq as their enemy No. 1. in Season 2.
That said, it is going to be a long wait for Season 2 to air. Even though 'Power Book II: Ghost' got an early renewal for Season 2, the best-case scenario is a September 2021 return. But don't be too surprised if Season 2 airs even later in 2021. Don't forget 'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' is coming this summer in 2021. 'Power Book IV: Force' with Tommy Egan could also see its premiere before Power Book II: Ghost' Season 2 starts airing -- it all depends on what the network wants to do and how filming goes. But for now, it is time to binge-watch all ten episodes of 'Power Book: II: Ghost' Season 1 again and start spinning some theories about what to expect in Season 2.
