MADLY IN LOVE: Pierce Brosnan couldn't keep his hands off wife Keely Shaye Smith at 'Black Adam' NYC premiere
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Pierce Brosnan couldn't keep his hands off his wife Keely Shaye Smith during an appearance on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the NYC premiere of his new DC superhero flick 'Black Adam'.
The decorated 'James Bond' star, 69, was drawn to his journalist wife, 59, as the pair held hands on the red carpet of the AMC Empire 25. Brosnan, who has been married to Smith for 21 years, appears in 'Black Adam' as Kent Nelson, who calls himself Doctor Fate and is part of the Justice Society of America, a group of superheroes that tries to stop the murderous carnage of the protagonist, played by Dwayne Johnson.

Brosnan oozed style and confidence at the premiere donning a shimmering blue velvet tuxedo jacket with peaked lapels. He accompanied the ensemble with lustrous black pants and patent leather loafers. The Irish actor completed the look with a luxury wristwatch and wore his salt-and-pepper hair swept back.
Meanwhile, Smith looked resplendent in a black sequined dress that accentuated her legs and her strappy black open-toe heels. The brunette beauty added a black velvet jacket to complement her husband's attire and matched her dress with a black sequined clutch. Her large diamond earrings glistened as she wore her long brunette tresses parted at the side and cascading down her shoulders, the Daily Mail reported.
Pierce let go of his wife at some point to catch up with his costar Dwayne Johnson, who wore a scarlet suit. The two friends beamed and shared a warm embrace on the red carpet. The 'Thomas Crown Affair' star also posed with his costars Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, and Quintessa Swindle, who play other members of the Justice Society of America.

It's worth noting that 'Black Adam' will mark the first time Pierce has suited up as a superhero for a comic book franchise, although it could have happened decades ago. The acclaimed actor sat down on Tuesday with Jimmy Fallon on 'The Tonight Show' to talk about his first foray into the superhero genre. At one point, Pierce revealed how he was up for Batman in the 1980s, but apparently bungled the audition.
“It was the last thing on my mind to be playing a superhero like Doctor Fate,” Pierce told Fallon, noting he hasn't been approached a lot for such roles. "I mean, I went up for Batman way back in the day when Tim Burton was doing it. Obviously, I didn’t get the job."
The actor said he embarrassed himself at the audition because he just didn't understand the appeal of Batman at the time. "I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton, I said, ‘You know I can’t understand any man who would wear his underpants outside his trousers.’ But there you go," Pierce quipped.
The Irish actor also sparked laughter from the audience as he described the experience of his 'Black Adam' character's bulky costume. "Everyone wants to know what it was like putting on the costume. What was it like putting on the helmet? You can't see a thing! It's darkness," he remarked. Meanwhile, he also showered praise on costar Johnson, calling him a "magnificent fellow." Pierce added, "He's kind of monolithic and beautiful and owns this role."
