'Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the animated Disney film
'Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe' was announced in 2019 by Disney+ and creators of the original show Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh came up with a plotline that was not explored in the show. On March 27, work on the film had to be halted because of the lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic but work continued remotely and now the film is ready for release. The cast and creative team of Disney+‘s animated movie 'Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe' participated in a virtual Comic-Con@Home panel on July 25 to discuss the origins of the iconic animated series and give us more details about the movie.
Release date
The film is slated to release on August 28 and can be streamed on Disney+.
Plot
The film sees Candace get kidnapped by aliens but she finds Utopia after this event in her life and the fact that where she lives is away from her pesky brothers works for her. However, Phineas and Ferb are not too far away as they decide to rescue their sister from aliens and bring her back to live with them. Imagine the horror!
Cast
Vincent Martella as Phineas
Vincent Martella returns to the world of Phineas and Ferb by voicing for Phineas. He also voiced the character of Robin in 2010 film 'Batman: Under the Red Hood'. He also worked on the first standalone Phineas and Ferb film 'Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension'.
Ashley Tisdale as Candace
Actor Ashley Tisdale also returns to voice the role of Candace in the film after having worked in the original Disney Channel show and the previous film.
Dee Bradley Baker as Perry
Perry the Platypus is Phineas and Ferb's pet who Phineas addresses as Perry. This role has been voiced by Dee Bradley Baker and he returns to voice the character for the film.
David Errigo Jr. as Ferb
Ferb was originally voiced Thomas Brodie-Sangster who has since been a part of projects such as 'Game of Thrones' and 'Maze Runner' trilogy. In this film, the role will be voiced by David Errigo Jr.
Voice talent reprising their roles from the original series and movie include: Caroline Rhea as their mom, Linda; Alyson Stoner as Isabella; Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet; Bobby Gaylor as Buford; Olivia Olson as Vanessa Doofenshmirtz; and Tyler Mann as Carl. Povenmire and Marsh return as Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram. The film will also see Ali Wong (American Housewife) as Super Super Big Doctor; Wayne Brady (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) as Stapler Fist; Diedrich Bader (American Housewife) as Borthos and Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley) as Garnoz.
Creators
The movie is executive-produced by “Phineas and Ferb” creators/executive producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. The soundtrack, from Walt Disney Records, will be available on August 28 as well. Bob Bowen (“Family Guy”) is the director, while the composer is Danny Jacob (“Phineas and Ferb”) and songwriters are Karey Kirkpatrick (“Something Rotten!”), Emanuel Kiriakou (Whitney Houston’s “I Look To You”) and Kate Micucci (“Garfunkel and Oates”).
Trailer
The film's trailer has not been released as of now, however, the opening scene of the movie was revealed at Comic Con@Home 2020 in which we can see Candace cycling down the street, singing a song that expands completely into a musical. The song is performed by Tisdale.
Where to watch
All four seasons of the original animated series Phineas and Ferb, along with the Disney Channel Original Movie Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension, are available to stream on Disney+. From August 25, all episodes will be presented on Disney XD leading up to the movie’s premiere
