'I owe him everything': Pete Davidson says Joe Pesci 'saved' him by believing in ‘Bupkis’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pete Davidson was being "real" when he said that he was saved by Oscar-winner Joe Pesci. In a recent interview, the ‘King of Staten Island’ star admitted that Pesci, who had announced his retirement from acting in 1999, “saved” him by accepting the proposal of ‘Bupkis’.
The comedy series, written by Davidson, is a fictionalized account of his own life as stars as himself alongside Edie Falco as his mother and Pesci as his grandfather. "[Pesci] liked the material enough to do it," Davidson said of the veteran actor, who has made very few appearances in movies since retiring.

In the interview with John Bernthal on Patreon’s ‘Real Ones’ podcast, the SNL star, who is more famous for his love affairs, said, "We had a really great conversation. It was really honest and organic and we kind of hit it off. And it was out of love he did it, 'cause he doesn't need to do anything."
Pesci’s approval came at the time when the rapper “needed” it the most. Davidson said, "I needed that validation from someone like that, like so badly," adding, "Because, like I said, when you're going online, I can deal with trolls, but Oscar winners, presidents shitting on you? You're like, 'Damn, I'm a f***ing loser.' I got the guy no one can get. And that changed my life. I owe him everything."
‘In 12 years, I've dated like 10 people’
The same interview had the comedian revisit his past relationships, of which most were formed while filming ‘SNL’. “I think what happened was I became more known before the work was there. But I was always working....Look, I'm in my 20s and I've dated people, and for some reason that is very crazy and interesting to people,” said Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend.
He added, “I don't think it's that interesting. I've been in show business for half my life almost, for like 14, 15 years, and on a national TV show." Then the ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’ star revealed, “And in 12 years, I've dated like 10 people, I don't really think that's that crazy,” adding, “But to some people, it seems very interesting."
'That is a really s***ty feeling'
Not getting recognition for his work and rather getting a perpetual lover's reputation pained him the most, as he said that he found it extremely “confusing” as he was not the one “flexing” his dating life on social media. “These people that I've dated, like I've met them at work. Like, I wasn't in anyone's DMs, no one was in mine. ...I worked at one of the five Hollywood epicenters where you meet people. And that's just who I was working with and who I was around,” he said, adding that whatever was talked about him, had “zero to do with the work.” "And that is a really s***ty feeling," he said.
