Perez Hilton pays respects to late Prince Haji ‘Abdul 'Azim just months after being slammed for 'outing' him
Perez Hilton was among the many who expressed his shock after hearing the news of Prince Haji ‘Abdul‘ Azim of Brunei death on October 24, 2020. "I am still in shock and trying to process this. I am struggling for words. Azim, your humor and generosity, and grace are what I will remember most. Thank you for the kind words you left me with about my children. I know how important your family was to you," he wrote. He continued, "My deepest condolences to all of them, everyone in #Brunei, all your friends in London and beyond. Rest in power."

Brunei's state broadcaster Radio Television Brunei were the first ones to confirm the news in an official statement that read, "Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's son Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim passed away on 17th of Rabi ul Awal (October 24, 2020) at 10.08 am local time. The funeral will take place during Asr prayers this evening." He was fourth in the line of the throne and reportedly died due to a health issue.
Previously, Perez had been slammed for alleging that Prince ‘Azim is gay. Perez released a video when it was announced that in Brunei if anyone found guilty of male and female homosexuality or adultery could now be stoned to death. The new law was applied to children and foreigners, as well as people who were not Muslims. Once this news was out, people were quick to protest. Among them was Perez who released a video and hinted that Prince 'Azim was gay.
"Y'all know I don't out people anymore," he said. "I used to do that back in the day but I'm making an exception here. I'm guessing the Sultan of Brunei doesn't know that his son, Prince Azim, is a big old homo. I would know because I have spent time with Prince Azim." He added, "It's so hypocritical this guy's son is a big flamer, and now he's enacted a law to stone to death gay men."
Despite this, people were quick to console him as he expressed his sadness over the loss of someone close. "Perez, saddened by the loss of your friend and such a young man. My deepest condolences" read one comment. Another added, "This is so sad, too young to die, condolences to the royal family of Brunei and the people." Many thoughts remembered the beloved Prince as one wrote, "Still shocked, just never experienced this before. Please give prayers towards our Late His Royal Highness Prince Haji Abdul Azim has passed away this morning & I’ll be mourning for a week from today." Another wrote, "I've never personally met him but I knew that he loves to smile. My heart mourns the loss of Prince Abdul Azim. May Allah swt grant him the highest rank of Syurga. Rest in peace." "been sort of lost for words since the news broke out this morning. feeling so much all at once its indescribable. Al-Fatihah...Almarhum HRH prince 'Abdul 'Azim. deepest condolences to the Royal family You will always be remembered..you went so soon," wrote another.
