Panic grips flight as passenger dies despite frantic effort by Jet2 cabin crew to give him CPR
ANTALYA, TURKEY: A man lost his life while traveling to Glasgow from Turkey via air. The unidentified passenger was reported to be on board a Jet2 flight Tuesday evening, March 7, when the incident happened. It has been said that the concern regarding the flyer's well-being was brought up when the man “didn't wake up”.
As the flight was mid-air, members of the cabin crew began performing CPR on him. The Daily Record reported that 40 minutes were spent giving the person chest compressions but he could not be resuscitated. An emergency landing request was then made and at 6:40 in the evening, the plane came to the ground before other flights in the queue.

Reports said that soon after the landing, the 44-year-old man was declared dead. He was believed to be alone when the unfortunate incident happened. A co-flyer of the victim reportedly shared, “We were around 40 minutes away from landing and the next minute, all the cabin crew started running toward the seats behind me. A man had been pulled onto the aisle and they were trying to give him mouth-to-mouth.”
“The pilot came on to inform us we were going to have to do an emergency landing due to a medical incident on-board. We had to land with all our cabin lights on and it was quite scary because you know that is quite dangerous. While that was happening, they were still down there trying to resuscitate the man,” they stated.
‘The staff at Jet2 were so professional and respectful’
The passenger added, “People were crying and really shaken up by it, it was really sad. When we landed, paramedics came on and they were still on the aircraft for about half an hour before people were let off. Everyone on the plane was really upset but the staff at Jet2 were so professional and respectful during the incident.”
A statement by Police Scotland said, “We were made aware around 7.20 pm on Tuesday, March 7 of a 44-year-old man taking unwell on board a flight which had arrived at Glasgow Airport. The man was pronounced dead a short time later. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Besides, a spokesperson for Jet2 mentioned, “We can confirm that Flight LS110 from Antalya to Glasgow requested a priority landing on Tuesday evening, due to an unresponsive customer onboard. Regrettably, we can confirm that the customer passed away. Our thoughts are with the customer’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”
Meanwhile, the incident has left people shocked online as a user tweeted, "Be thankful it wasn't the pilot." Another user said, "Unfortunately, CPR (even performed by the best trained staff) is only 1% effective. Defibrillators should be available on planes." "Yet another sudden death mid-flight...." the third user added.
