LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: A small airplane crash on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in a Long Island neighborhood resulted in one fatality and two injuries. The plane was captured catching on fire as it crashed in a terrifying doorbell cam video.

Suffolk County police stated that around 3 pm, the plane crashed in Lindenhurst near Fifth Street and North Wellwood Avenue, as reported by New York Post. The pilot reportedly saw smoke in the cockpit as the aircraft approached Republic Airport, a representative for the National Transportation Safety Board told Newsday. A ring camera footage shows the craft's engine roaring, followed by a loud crash. Then, from behind the trees, an explosion of a ball of flame appears, followed by a cloud of black smoke. The explosive plane crash in a forested area close to Ken DeFreitas' home was caught on his doorbell camera, according to New York Post.
