Oprah Winfrey 'livid' with Prince Harry as James Corden chat aired before her exclusive: 'She wasted millions'
Oprah Winfrey is reportedly furious because of Prince Harry’s open bus tour interview with James Corden. The 67-year-old actress reportedly wanted everything exclusive for her bombshell interview with Meghan Markle and Harry, but the latter's chat with Corden aired first. One of the interesting parts of Winfrey’s interview is about getting juicy details from the couple about why they stepped down from the royal duties and shifted to the US for a new life. However, the Duke of Sussex has already shared his reason for leaving the UK for the US in an interview for ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden’.
In the chat show, Harry told the English actor that he left his home country because of his anger towards the British media, which is no more exclusive for CBS’s two-hour tell-all interview. The i Paper’s Late Editor Benjamin Butterworth talked about how the 36-year-old’s revelation made Winfrey’s show underrated. He said, “I think they were desperate to get their story out there. Anyone that saw James Corden and Prince Harry on Friday, first of all, Oprah must have been livid that he'd already given the line of why he quit the Royals to James Corden so she's not got that as an exclusive."

Explaining further, Butterworth continued, “So she's wasted a couple of million there but I just find it utterly extraordinary how a couple that are so rich and have had such a high position in life as the Duke and Duchess can manage to make themselves appear so cheap."
Meanwhile, people have criticized the decision to air Winfrey’s interview with the Sussexes on Sunday, March 7, despite Harry's grandfather, Prince Philip, not being in good health. The 99-year-old royal has been admitted to the hospital for around two weeks. He received treatment for infections and for his heart condition. Though many people demanded the postponement of the tell-all interview, CBS has not made any changes to the date and confirmed it will release as decided. Also, ITV will air it, which is supposed to be a £1M ($1.38M) deal.
“It really is big money, reportedly ITV spent £1million on getting the rights to air this Oprah interview in the UK. So god knows how much is sloshing around in the US. For a couple that needs the popularity and the good PR, even if you accept their decision to quit the royals and go off and pursue this line of work. You have to question the good sense behind doing it now, you know, would it have killed them to do it in three months, six months, when the world will hopefully be in a much stronger place?” Butterworth added.

Earlier, a report said that Meghan has been planning an interview with Winfrey for two years after her chat with Gayle King was canceled by the royal family's public relations machine. Sources said that the ‘Suits’ star wanted to do a ‘short interview’ with King in 2019, but the Palace did not let it happen. A TV insider added that since then the 66-year-old TV personality and Winfrey have both been in touch with Meghan and Harry, and this finally resulted in the CBS interview.
