TORONTO, ONTARIO: A marriage proposal at a baseball game went horribly wrong when a man was slapped in the face after he knelt on one knee and used a Ring Pop to ask his fiancée to marry him. On Sunday, October 2, crowds gathered at the Rogers Centre to see the Toronto Blue Jays play the Boston Red Sox. While spectators anticipated an exciting game, the marriage proposal that went awry came as a surprise. A viral video shows Alexander Korda, a New Yorker, stopping his girlfriend on the way to her seat before proposing. The video has received over 2,50,000 views so far.

Alexander got down on one knee, leaving his girlfriend speechless. Several spectators instantly took out their phones to record what happened next. Even the official MLB camera crew started filming the proposal, but the drama that unfurled exceeded everyone's expectations.

Alexander clearly ruined the moment when he pulled out a small, black box from his left jean pocket, only to reveal a Ring Pop inside. When his girlfriend saw the red lollipop ring, she yelled at him, “What the f*** is wrong with you,” reared back, and proceeded to slap him directly across the face. People have since been debating whether this was a joke or an actual proposal gone wrong. According to Daily Mail, Alexander's girlfriend was seen in the clip sporting a bikini top from the company Love Lost Manhattan. Alexander, who also originally posted the video, is the CEO of the company. One person wrote, "Had to have been staged right?”

However, according to the New York Post, a few keen-eyed internet sleuths detected a lump in the man's pocket, which they think is the actual ring he was about to propose with, and that the Ring Pop was merely a harmless practical joke that went horribly wrong.  One person wrote, “If that was suppose to be a "joke", then (1) the both of them haven't been dating genuinely enough to be on the same page and (2) his emotional abuse and her physical assault were both uncalled for. Should have just turned around and left.” "I wonder if she ever got that ring that’s in his other pocket?” another added.

"That was one of the all-time backfires. It definitely wasn’t staged though. He thought she would laugh and then he’d give her the real ring, I’ve been there. I mean not quite like that, but still," another user remarked. Several rushed to defend the man as one user wrote,  “She doesn’t deserve him.” "She waisted a perfectly good ring pop. She deserves no love!!!” another joked.
