Footage of Utah Department of Public Safety Aero Bureau rescuing a climber stranded on a cliff face has gone viral. The department shared photographs and footage of the climber clinging to his dear life as he's being rescued on Instagram.

The Instagram post says the climber, who has not been identified, spent a terrifying night on a narrow ledge of the vertical cliff face in Zion National Park after being wounded in a fall.

After falling in Kolob Canyon, the hiker sustained several injuries and got stuck on the rock face. The department urged climbers to be careful on the cliffs.

“He spent the night there cold, injured, unprepared. Please plan ahead before you go out,” the post read. A helicopter from the Department of Public Safety responded and dropped a rescuer on the trapped climber. The climber is seen being dragged up to safety in the Instagram footage. “Shout out to the park rangers who located him and guided us in. A quick pick and a short flight later the victim is safe at the LZ,” the post said. The climber's identity has not been revealed. There was no information available about the degree of the climber's injuries. The Utah Highway Patrol responded to the post, “Nice work team!”

Rock Climb Every Day offers various safety guidelines for rock climbing. It's critical to double-check knots and harnesses to ensure they're buckled and doubled back. It is also advised that you wear a helmet to protect yourself from the effects of falling. It's also critical to pack enough equipment after surveying the region from the ground and calculating what you'll need. The Rock Climb Every Day website says: “Safety is and should be one of the important concerns in Rock Climbing. It is usually done in areas where medical assistance is not readily available. The sport presents a physical and mental challenge with minimal danger."
