'ON AIR' radio theater show resumes after Covid-19 break, lineup has 2PM, iKON members
The initial lineup had Wonho, GFriend's Yerin and Victon's Sejun as DJs but will now have 2PM’s Jun.K and iKON’s Jinhwan and Baek A-yeon, among others
Back in July, fans were excited about the new entertainment show ‘On Air - Spinoff’. Unfortunately, after a staff member ended up with Covid-19, Noir’s Minhyuk also happened to test positive. The production of the show came to a standstill as the cast and crew were tested and put on two-week long quarantines. At the time, the idols involved in the show included Yubin, Wonho, Mirae’s Dongpyo, Victon’s Heo Chan, Sejun, GFriend’s Yerin and iKON’s Jay aka Jinhwan. The program was indefinitely postponed with fans wondering when it would resume.
On November 23, fans finally got some information on the much-awaited show. The interactive, theatrical show in the visible radio format, where K-pop stars directly communicate and answer questions from their fans, is finally being resumed with a confirmed premiere date, location, ticket sales and a new lineup. The show has also been rebranded simply as 'ON AIR.' While we won’t get to see all of the old cast members since those idols are busy with their individual schedules, the lineup is still star-studded. Idols set to play the DJs on the show are 2PM’s Jun.K, iKON’s Jinhwan, Baek A-yeon, Mirae’s Dongpyo, Golden Child’s Joochan and Y. The only idols from the original lineup who have remained are Jinhwan, Baek A-yeon and Dongpyo.

What is ‘ON AIR’
Along with the idols who will play the role of the DJs in different episodes of the show, we also have actors like Yoo Jae-pil, Ryubi, Han Jun-yong and Yoon Hyung-seok. Yoo Jae-pil and Ryubi had been a part of the original ‘On Air’ series that first aired in 2014. Following the popularity of the show, Shinswave Production had launched the spin-off ‘ON AIR’. Previously known as ‘On Air - Spinoff’, ‘ON AIR’ will air from December 10 till February 27, 2022. It is a hybrid event as fans can attend it in person and also live-stream it online. The program will be held at Daehangno YES24 Stage Hall 2 and will be live-streamed on Meta Theater. Tickets can be purchased from YES24 and Ticket link from November 26 at 4 pm KST (3 am ET).
Like the previous editions, ‘ON AIR’ is a musical with a theatre-style visible radio format with the theme of ‘one day dating between idols and fans’. Fans can send in their stories through the radio to the idol DJs and the actors in the cast will then reenact these stories. The idol DJs can also communicate with fans by directly answering questions sent to them and share similar stories. We will also get other K-pop idols and musical actors appearing in different episodes and get a behind-the-scenes commentary of the show. The last edition, ‘On Air: The Secret Contract’ involved the likes of Sandara Park, Golden Child’s Joochan, Super Junior members and Seventeen’s Mingyu.
