Director Olivia Wilde's untitled Marvel movie: Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about female-centered film

For those of you who wished to see more female characters in the Marvel universe, Sony Pictures is collaborating with the ever-talented actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde’s for an untitled "secret" project, according to a Deadline report. It’s reportedly said to center around a well-known female Marvel character. Here’s everything you need to know about the highly anticipated movie:

Release Date 

The release date for the untitled movie is yet to be announced. According to reports, the project has been a high priority since the beginning of the year. It remains to be seen when it would commence taking into consideration the current global situation. Watch this space for more updates.

Plot

While the makers haven’t revealed details regarding the character the movie is based off on, reports suggest that the story will most probably center Spider-Woman. Since the comics have featured different women in the role, including Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy, Julia Carpenter and the OG Spider-Woman Jessica Drew, we couldn’t wait to see who the upcoming film will be built around.

 As the project is underway, details regarding the cast are yet to be revealed. 

Creators 

Olivia Wilde 
Sources have told Deadline that Olivia Wilde will be directing and developing Sony’s upcoming Marvel project. Apparently, the actress wanted to give it a  pass as she was held up with other projects. However, she took up the project eventually as it offered her an opportunity to launch her own female superhero.

The actress made her feature directorial last year with the critically acclaimed 'Booksmart' which starred Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein. Wilde won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature for the movie.  She’s also directing the 1950s psychological thriller 'Don't Worry, Darling'. Wilde is popular for essaying the role of Remy "Thirteen" Hadley on the medical-drama 'House' from 2007-2012. Her film credits include 'Rush', 'The Lazarus', 'Love the Coopers', ‘Meadowland' among others. 

While Gray Spinelli has penned the previous script for the project, Katie Silberman is drafting the new script. Amy Pascal will be serving as the producer with Rachel O’Connor as the executive producer.
