Josh O’Connor, Dakota Johnson join two award-winning actors in 'Three Incestuous Sisters' movie adaptation
In terms of gathering a powerful ensemble cast featuring serious star power, the upcoming feature film 'Three Incestuous Sisters' is sparing no expense. Deadline reported that Hollywood A-listers, including Dakota Johnson, Saoirse Ronan, Josh O' Connor, and Jessie Buckley, have joined the upcoming movie, which will be directed by Italian director Alice Rohrwacher. The script, written by Rohrwacher in association with Otessa Moshfegh, is loosely based on the Audrey Niffenegger novel of the same name. Thereafter, all plot details are kept tightly under wraps as of this writing.
The upcoming movie is being produced and financed by Indian Paintbrush, represented by Stephen Rales. Ro Donnelly and Johnson will also produce for TeaTime Pictures. Director Rohrwacher is on board as another producer. Principal photography and production are scheduled to commence in April of this year. Each member of the cast is currently leading a stellar career in their own right, and it is expected that they will bring their aura to the upcoming film.
Ronan's performance in the recent 'The Outrun' received a lot of praise, along with her contribution to 'Bad Apple'. Her ongoing projects include a 'Beatles' movie, directed by Sam Mendes, where she plays the character of Linda McCartney.
On the other hand, Johnson is still reaping the benefits of her success in the romantic drama 'Materialists', where she appeared alongside Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans. Other than this, Johnson was most recently seen in 'Daddio' with Sean Penn. O' Connor dazzled audiences as Jud Duplenticy on the latest addition to the 'Knives Out' movie franchise, known as 'Wake Up Dead Man'. He is slated to appear in veteran director Steven Spielberg's upcoming UFO-based blockbuster 'Disclosure Day', where he will star opposite Emily Blunt.
Among the lot, Buckley's star is especially on the rise. Her role in Hamnet, produced by Amblin and Focus Features, earned her a Golden Globe, an Actor Award, and an Oscar nomination in the Best Actress category. A notable upcoming project from Buckley is the Christian Bale-led movie 'The Bride'.
Rohrwacher and O'Connor had previously collaborated on the 2023 movie 'La Chimera', which was also the director's most recent venture. 'La Chimera' also featured Isabella Rossellini and premiered in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
The National Board of Review honoured the film by naming it among the top five international films of 2023. Rohrwacher's eminence in film has also been recognized by the European Film Academy, which awarded her the Achievement in World Cinema Award in 2026.
