Fans of the 'Scary Movie' franchise were looking forward to the official trailer for the franchise's sixth instalment, set to release on February 27. However, the trailer was leaked online on Thursday, hours before it was supposed to drop during the screening of 'Scream 7.' Fans got an early look at all the horror films that are parodied in the movie. Among them are the Oscar-nominated film 'Sinners' (2025), along with acclaimed films like 'A Quiet Place' (2018), 'Get Out' (2017), 'The Substance' (2024), and others.

The box-office hits 'Terrifier 3' (2024), 'Weapons' (2025), 'M3GAN' (2022), 'Annabelle' (2014), and the 'Scream' franchise (1996–present) are also spoofed in the film, according to the leaked trailer. Moreover, the footage captured the audience's live reactions, including roaring laughter and loud cheers. The video ends with the film's tagline flashing across the screen as a warning, “Every line will be crossed.” Well, we don't expect anything less from the franchise.

A few hours later, Marlon Wayans shared a similar video of his film's trailer and audience reaction on his Instagram account, and captioned it "Just Bootlegged my own Movie Trailer! WE’RE BACK!!!! @scarymovie @paramountpics #scarymovie." 'Scary Movie 6' was announced in April 2024, and will see the Wayans brothers — Marlon, Shawn, and Keenan Ivory — reunite for the first time in 18 years to write an original script. Marlon told Entertainment Weekly in September 2025 that he lost 20 lbs to star as Shorty, a role he played in the 2000 original film. "We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don't care if you're sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves. Just know that we're not just laughing at you, you get the chance to laugh at others," he said about the movie.

'Scary Movie 6' is scheduled to release in theaters on June 12 and is a Paramount Pictures production. The upcoming parody film is directed by Michael Tiddes and is co-written by the Wayans brothers - Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans, alongside Rick Alvarez. The sixth installment in the 'Scary Movie' franchise serves as a legacy sequel to 'Scary Movie 4,' released in 2006. The comedy spoof revival comes 13 years after the franchise's last film, 'Scary Movie 5,' which hit theaters on April 12, 2013. Furthermore, Neal H. Moritz, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Alvarez serve as producers of the upcoming film.   Anna Farris and Chris Elliott as seen in Scary Movie 2 (Image Source: Instagram | @scarymoviefranchise)

'Scary Movie 6' will see the return of Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks, both of whom starred in the first four instalments of the franchise. Marlon Wayans, who has co-created the franchise, reprises his role as Shorty Meeks; Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins; Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze; Lochlyn Munro as Greg Phillippe; and Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore.

Anthony Anderson as Mahalik, Cheri Oteri, and Chris Elliott. New additions to the cast include Kim Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Heidi Gardner, Cameron Scott Roberts, Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Ruby Snowber, Felissa Rose, Sydney Park, and Benny Zielke.
