Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis seek to dismiss 'ruthless' former nanny's wrongful termination lawsuit
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The tables are turning as Jason Sudeikis and his ex-fiancee, Olivia Wilde, are now counter-suing their two children’s former nanny, Ericka Genaro, saying that her lawsuit, in which she claimed she was 'wrongfully terminated' after requesting medical leave, is without merit for a number of reasons. The ex-couple claims that Genaro's pay was quadrupled in 2020 and that the family "took care of her."
The couple claims to have paid for Genaro and her dog to stay in London's Rosewood Hotel when she quit her job in one instance. The ultimate tab, which included food and beverage room service, totaled more than $22,000. They also claim that Genaro violated her contract by speaking to the media about the couple's problems and allegedly lying about her criminal background. According to the couple, Genaro has described herself as 'ruthless'.

Finally, Sudeikis and Wilde claim that Genaro voluntarily left her job. According to TMZ, the former SNL alum and Wilde stated in legal documents that the nanny's claims should have been heard in New York arbitration. Sudeikis and Wilde further claim that Genaro's problems with her job reportedly began when she wanted a tax-free raise.
"It is unfortunate that this private matter continues to play out in the press. Our focus has been and will continue to be to steadfastly protect our family in the face of harassment of any kind. We are confident that the evidence brought forward will affirm our position to summarily dismiss this case and bring our family peace,” said Sudeikis and his ex-fiancee, Wilde, in a statement to TMZ.
Who is Ericka Genaro?
In February 2023, Ericka Genaro filed a lawsuit against the former star couple for whom she worked from 2018 to 2021. Genaro said she had been put under a lot of extra pressure when Olivia Wilde allegedly abandoned the household in 2020, as per E! News. That was also precisely the time Wilde reportedly started her romance with Harry Styles. The nanny alleges she took on an increased parenting role to kids Otis, 8, and Daisy, 6, after Wilde left the family home in November 2020.
Why did Ericka Genaro sue the former couple?
Genaro claimed her duties transcended from just being the nanny to the children to serving as a support system for Sudeikis, which made her stay hours after her shift for him to vent and discuss the chaotic family situation.
While she listened to Sudeikis’ rant during that time, it also allegedly led to her own mental stress and anxiety, which she claims became disabling. On top of that, she claims her work duties became significantly more, allegedly demanding her to work around the clock.
While she complained to Wilde about the increased workload, she was sympathetic. However, Sudeikis allegedly did not like the fact that she had the conversation with Wilde and that Geraro felt she had to pick sides. However, at this point, her anxiety became unbearable to the extent that she was advised by medical professionals that she had to stop working and take a three-day break from the job. She was reportedly fired after asking for a three-day leave of absence to tend to her mental health. Genaro filed a lawsuit against her former employers on Tuesday, February 14, in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
What did Sudeikis and Wilde say?
At that time, Sudeikis and Wilde said, "As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly," before continuing, "Her now 18-month long campaign of harassing us, as well as loved ones, close friends and colleagues, has reached its unfortunate apex. We will continue to focus on raising and protecting our children with the sincere hope that she will now choose to leave our family alone," as per TMZ.
