'Not a damsel in distress!' Princess Peach fans love ‘badass’ version of ‘The Super Mario Bros’ character
Just a month after Nintendo and Illumination debuted the first trailer for ‘The Super Mario Bros’ on October 7, they have now released the second trailer for the 2023's most anticipated animated film of 2023, which hits theaters on April 7. The new trailer features Anya Taylor-Joy’s Princess Peach, Charlie Day’s Luigi, and Seth Rogen’s Donkey Kong. But what caught the attention of fans was Princess Peach's role as the competent ruler of the Toads. One wrote, "they made Princess Peach a badass who defends her people instead of a helpless woman in the Mario Movie... WE LOVE TO SEE IT."
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, the trailer shows Mario’s classic adventures flying in a tanuki suit, while Princess Peach, the pink princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, touches a fire flower. The film also stars Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Jack Black as Bowser, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

Princess Peach isn’t a damsel in distress
Following the release of the trailer on Tuesday, November 29, fans praised the direction of the character of Princess. A user tweeted by saying, "I personally LOVE this direction Because it makes sense that she knows more about her world than Mario. But I also would like to see that, with all her knowledge, maybe her being cooped up in the Mushroom Kingdom most of the time makes her more unknowing of the true depths that their world goes to. So she's teaching Mario how to be a hero, how to lead or save people, yadda yadda, but also learning a thing or two about herself. And Mario can teach her things, too, stuff about maybe the perspective he has from someone *not* as a leader, or of royalty." Many continued to applaud with one saying, "This was probably the best change they could’ve made. It looks like Luigi might be the one who needs saving." Another said, "They did her justice!" While many were happy, "THEY GAVE HER THE BIKER SUIT." One more commented, "I'm so glad that they made peach a bad bitch and not a helpless captured princess." A user chimed in, "Granted, Peach has been a hero before in Super Princess Peach and the RPGs. It's just refreshing to see that a heroic Peach is being normalized. I'm just waiting on these YouTubers to call this woke. LMAO." Another user said, "She's about to do a no-damage run in Elden Ring fr."
