'Green Eggs and Ham': Keegan-Michael Key says he was sold on the project with the script's first page
With 'Green Eggs and Ham' all set to release on November 8, Netflix went all out with the green carpet at the Hollywood Post 43.
The green carpet featured parody posters of other series from the streaming giant that includes, 'Black Forest' - a play on Black Mirror; 'Queer Egg' - a play on Queer Eye; 'To All The Eggs I've Tried Before' - a play on To All The Boys I've Loved Before; etc... Netflix also had a massive eight-foot high Chickeraffe at the green carpet.
At the green carpet, MEA WorldWide (Meaww) caught up with actor Keegan-Michael Key who is the narrator in the series, and he revealed what sold him on the project and the story.
"What sold me in the project was the first page of the script. They jumped right into it. It's really an action-adventure. The Dr. Seuss books are kind of action adventures in their own right, but there's kind of high octane, big stakes, capers, spy energy, about it, which I'm a sucker for. So that's what got me."
While we love to hear Key's voice and narration, what we do miss is his impressions. Talking about what we can expect from him in the future, and if we can see him in any other animated movie or series anytime soon, he said, "You can see me in 'Dark Crystal', which is also on Netflix. But right now I don't have anything else in the works. I've been a lot of voice-overs recently."
Talking about any character that he would like to play and voice from old school comic books, Key shared, "There are two characters I would love to voice. I would love to voice Skeletor from the 'He-Man.' I would like to do a twist on Skeletor. It's not just like a snake voice. I have a tenor voice, so I like to challenge myself and play characters that have deeper voices."
He said, "If they did an animated Jungle Book remake, I want to do Kaa, the snake. And then also, there's this cartoon when I was a kid called Thundercats, and the comic relief character in that was called Snarf, who I would love to play. So I have them lined up for the remakes."
