Is Nicholas Brendon OK? ‘Buffy’ actor paralysed in legs and genitals after jail stint
Things don't look good for actor Nicholas Brendon, who is best known for Xander Harris in the 90s hit series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. Just a month after being charged for prescription fraud of a controlled substance in Indiana, he's now in "immense pain" due to paralysis of his legs, his manager revealed on September 10. In fact, things are so bad that Brendon has been forced out of promotions for his latest film 'Wanton Want'.
Brendon isn't the only celebrity facing paralysis issues. On August 31, we reported on the hit-and-run incident that nearly paralyzed Detroit funnyman Robert Spearman, but thankfully he is able to walk again. In July, the promising University of Illinois football star Bobby Roundtree died, two years after being paralyzed in a swimming pool accident. In June, James Michael Tyler, best known for playing Gunther on 'Friends' also revealed he was paralyzed due to cancer.

The shocking news of Brendon's health has stunned fans, as things appear to be going from bad to worse for the veteran actor. He's had some legal troubles in the past too, having been arrested in Palm Springs in 2017 and New York in 2015. But on the health front, he's never had any major issues, till his slip at his Indiana home in February. Reportedly, he was hoping to put those off-screen issues behind him with 'Wanton Want', but alas it appears he won't get that chance.
Is Nicholas Brendon ok?
In an interview with The Daily Mail, Brendon's Theresa Fortier revealed just how bad his health really is. "This past week and a half, things have turned drastically worse. He is suffering from paralysis in his genitals and private parts," Fortier said. She added, "He has had difficulties with flying. Sadly his condition means he needs surgical intervention for his increasing problems."
Fortier revealed Brendon is suffering from Cauda equina syndrome, a condition where the nerve roots in the lumbar spine are compressed. As a result, movement and feeling in the lower body are generally cut off. Right now, he is awaiting the results of scans, but will definitely need major surgery in the coming days. Fortier blamed his worsening conditions on Vigo County Jail, where Brendon spent the night after being arrested in August. "During the arrest, they were not quite careful with his condition. It has aggravated the symptoms of his previous injury," she said.
She also claimed Brendon was made to sleep on the floor, which "was not exactly conducive to healing and it aggravated his injury." Initially, it was reported that Brendon's back issues stemmed from his February fall, but Fortier revealed that his condition goes back much further. She claimed he had long-term back issues that were worse by the fall, saying, "He had been recovering slowly, but the fall aggravated issues he had."
As a result of his conditions, Brendon won't be out promoting his new film. Directed by Joston Ramon Theney, 'Wanton Want' is scheduled to release on September 28 on Amazon Prime Video. Brendon plays a writer struggling to complete his magnum opus. "The role called for him to dig deep and go to very dark places... and his performance is simply magic," Theney said about Brendon's performance.
