'neXt': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Fox's sci-fi thriller
With productions halted amid an ongoing pandemic, network television might have taken a backseat, or so we had thought before these channels kept surprising us and amazed with new content every single month. Looks like that's worked to Fox's benefit because their brand new sci-fi thriller 'neXt' is finally being released after initially being shelved from 2019-20 season. Talk about nice saves! Here's all you need to know about it.
Release date
Arriving right in time for the fall season, 'neXt' premieres on October 6, at 9 pm only on Fox.
Plot
According to its IMDb synopsis, 'neXt' sees "A former tech CEO join a Homeland Cybersecurity Agent to stop the emergence of a rogue Artificial Intelligence." In the very Alexa, or your good ol' classic Siri gone wrong story, a Silicon Valley pioneer-like villain poses a threat to the whole world with their newest creation - the rogue AI. Taking place in the future not all that far off, our hero from Homeland must stop them at all costs as the plot unfolds.
Cast
Mad Men's John Slatterly, who was recently in Hulu drama 'Mrs America', returns to TV this year once again with 'neXt'. Fernanda Andrade, Michael Mosley and Eve Harlow also star.
Creators
Manny Coto who is known for some of television's the most classic thrillers such as 'Dexter' and '24' is the mastermind behind this robotic blood ride. Glenn Ficarra, known for 'I Love You Phillip Morris' (2009), 'This Is Us' (2016) and 'Cats & Dogs' (2001), and Crazy, Stupid, Love's John Requa direct.
Trailer
The trailer for 'neXt' has been out for quite a full year now, with the show initially getting delayed due to the pandemic, and arriving right in time to populate an otherwise bleak slate. It's your classic throwback to the very recent Netflix saga 'Lost in Space' that manages to win hearts all over and by the looks of it, 'neXt' will too. In has been quite the time for the revival of sci-fi thrillers, but 'neXt' seems to be packing more than just big names in its cast. Alexa turns into Eliza and the rest is all history.
