Netflix's 'The Witcher' bids proper goodbye to Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia in Season 3
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Henry Cavill fans have been massively depressed recently as their favorite star announced that he was going to hang the red cape as his time as the Kryptonian hero is over. Apparently, this happened after a detailed discussion with DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Regardless, all this links to Netflix's 'Witcher' as previously Cavill decided to leave the Netflix series as he was returning to DCU.
Although earlier, the upcoming third season of Netflix’s 'The Witcher' wasn’t written as a farewell to Henry Cavill’s version of Geralt of Rivia, the show’s team is doing all it can to give the actor a proper exit from the fantasy drama. Furthermore, Liam Hemsworth will be taking over the role of Geralt from Cavill in the fourth season of the Netflix series. 'The Witcher' explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Princess Ciri.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Lauren Hissrich explained how Geralt’s character would grow this season and what it means for the show in the future. Hissrich even goes as far as to call the Cavill’s final season a “heroic sendoff.”
“Geralt’s big turn is about giving up neutrality and doing anything that he has to do to get to Ciri,” Hissrich said. “And to me, it’s the most heroic sendoff that we could have, even though it wasn’t written to be that. Geralt has a new mission in mind when we come back to him in season 4. He’s a slightly different Geralt than we expected. Now, by the way, that’s an understatement.”
The news of Cavill’s exit from the Netflix series came about a week after the theatrical release of Warner Bros.’ film 'Black Adam,' in which the actor reprises his Superman role in a cameo during the mid-credits scene.
When asked whether there’s any chance that Cavill could take another Witcher role or have a behind-the-scenes presence, Hissrich told the outlet, “We haven’t even thought about that at this point.”
'The Witcher' Season 3 will be released sometime in mid-2023.
