According to Deadline, the production giant has finally secured the global rights to the ‘Warhammer 40,000’ games from Games Workshop and will see Henry Cavill playing one of the pivotal characters on the show. The deal also makes it clear that Amazon Studios has the rights to the ‘Warhammer’ universe across film, TV series, and animation projects as well.

The superstar, who has been a fan of the miniature wargame for a while now, was really excited to be a part of the universe and shared his excitement by uploading a short video on Instagram which confirmed Cavill’s involvement in the series. In his post, the ‘Man of Steel’ actor noted that he always wanted to see a “live-action” Warhammer universe and feels delighted to confirm that he will be bringing the “Warhammer Cinematic Universe” to life.

“For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action. Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life. Partnering with Natalie Viscuso at Vertigo has been a blessing beyond words, without her we might not have found the perfect home at Amazon,” Cavill wrote.

The 39-year-old actor also gave a huge shout-out to all the ‘Warhammer’ fans and assured them that he will “respect” the IP and bring something really familiar for those who have been playing the game for a while now. He concluded the post by saying that Amazon is now working hard to find a filmmaker, creator, and writer for the upcoming project. He added, “To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love. I promise to bring you something familiar. And I endeavor to bring you something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen. Our first steps are to find our Filmmaker/Creator/Writer. Watch this space, my friends.”
