Netflix's 'Levius' ending explained: Here's how Levius is able to defeat AJ in the final battle and free her from Dr Clown's hold
The Netflix adaptation of the 'Levius' manga dropped on November 28 and showed us an alternate world where mechanical boxing is the sport of the day and nations are cheering it on.
It's a world where society is struggling to resurrect itself from the ashes of a horrific war. The war is over, but the scars remain more painful than ever. We meet our eponymous protagonist Levius, who is burdened with survivor's guilt.
There is one scene that always haunts him. During the war, he remembers a girl crying and asking him for help, while he was buried under rubble. He was only a child and she is taken away by a mysterious automaton.
Her face is always on his mind. In fact, it was she, who subconsciously leads him to the arena of mechanical boxing. He had spotted her once on the streets and chased after her, and found himself in a stadium.
Years later, Levius meets her in the boxing ring. She had just defeated one of the strongest MMA artistes (Mechanical Martial Arts) by the name of Hugo. At first, Levius doesn't know it's her, and strikes at her, till she removes her mask.
And he sees the same pleas for help that he had seen back in that memory that he always carries with him. Levius learns that her name is AJ, and she is Dr Clown's "child", or rather someone he had supposedly "rescued" after the war.
Levius wants to save her, even though she is a killing machine by the Amethyst corporation, which is headed by Dr Clown.
However, when he meets her later at the sinister Dr Clown's residence, she insists she is happy where she is. Levius tries to convince AJ that she is being kept prisoner, but she says no and seems to be in Clown's control.
Her tears, however, say something else. Through research, Levius and his team discover that Clown had taken away these children and kept them as "research studies".
In the final three episodes, Levius is ready to battle it out with AJ, in order to rescue her. Yet, no matter what he does, he cannot seem to make any impact on her.
Uncle Zack, who has hyper-infra sensitivity, decides to take off his eyepatch and see through AJ, to learn where she keeps her steam generator that is giving her power. He can see heat that isn't normally visible, at the risk of burning out his retina and optic nerves.
He learns that she possesses two steam generators to power her performance, and one is right below her heart. Levius finally delivers a punch to her in the last episode, rendering her weak, and hits out at Dr Clown, and realises that he is just an automaton.
The battle ends, AJ recovers and is no longer under any evil influence. Meanwhile, Levius is set for battle again, and that leads us to wait for Season 2.
