'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 6 Episode 10 sees Pride revenge Lasalle's murder but he may have reached his breaking point

It would appear that when the stakes are personal, Pride’s judgment is affected. And with Lasalle or his daughter or anyone from the NCIS squad, the stakes would always be personal for him.

Episode 10 of ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ finally saw justice for the murder of special agent Chris Lasalle (Lucas Black). But it wasn’t easy, and not least because the man behind the crime was a cult leader.

Special agent Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) ultimately killed him but before he could do so, Eddie Barrett (Eddie Cahil) got inside his head. He revealed he knew where Pride’s daughter was. He could get her at any time.

The question one has to ask now: Is Pride okay? Even in episode 9, we saw Pride sort of losing his control. The idea of Lasalle’s killer getting away with the crime -- Barrett found alibis and people crucial to the investigation died under mysterious circumstances --  infuriated Pride so much he couldn’t sleep and eat.

Usually sharp, this mental strain caused him to encounter problems while on duty. It would appear that when the stakes are personal, Pride’s judgment is affected. And with Lasalle or his daughter or anyone from the NCIS squad, the stakes would always be personal for him.

He was covering this very lack-of-good-judgment up. He told the FBI that Barrett went for his gun and that was why he had to shoot him. But that is patently untrue.

Another question one has to ask is how his team would deal with Pride in such a state. They could easily tell that he had lied to the feds. Even if they kept their mouths shut, they knew something was wrong.

While the team is supportive of each other, Pride, a kind of lone wolf, would never let them see his vulnerability. How long, then, would it take for the team to voice its concerns?

Justice for Lasalle’s death might have brought closure to others, but it seems unlikely if it would be the same for Pride. For now, one has to wait and watch. But if the past is any indication, Pride may have just reached a breaking point.

'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 6 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. only on CBS.
