In episode 9 of ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Season 6, justice for special agent Christopher Lasalle (Lucas Black) remained elusive at best. Eddie Barrett (Barrett Cahill), the man suspected of killing him, managed to outsmart the team of federal agents at every step.

He found alibis. People crucial to the investigation died under mysterious circumstances. The episode ended on a cliffhanger: when the NCIS team finally confronted him, they were met with an army of loyal men and women, armed to the teeth, prepared to die for Barrett, for the man is a manipulative cult leader.

Episode 10 began where the previous episode ended. Barrett sent a messenger to the squad: All except special agent Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) leave the premises. Barrett wanted to talk to him.

The NCIS team saw this as a potential hostage situation and tried to convince Pride to leave with them. But Pride went ahead. The team drove up the road  -- they did not want to be too far from the situation. They waited for backup to arrive and, once it did, they returned. They soon had the compound surrounded.

The team told Barrett they wanted Pride back and that he should turn himself over peacefully, but of course, Barrett refused. Meanwhile, Pride asked Barrett what he wanted. He claimed all he wanted was peace. He accused Pride of coming to the compound to kill him.

Barrett meanwhile called the media, expecting the NCIS squad to make a mistake. But they did not. When a member of the cult came outside waving a gun, rather than kill him, they caught him alive. This worked against Barrett’s plans to have the NCIS kill a man on live TV, ensuring he would be viewed as a victim.

He left Pride alone, not wanting him to know that his plan had failed. While alone, Pride spotted some wires and began following them. Suddenly, the same kid who had delivered Barrett’s message to the NCIS earlier, appeared and pulled a gun on him.

Pride was cornered. He tried negotiating with him, poking holes in Barrett’s doctrines. Pride told the boy Barrett was up to something. He believed the house was rigged.

Slowly, he got the kid to question Barrett’s motives. Before anything could happen, however, Barrett walked in and grabbed the gun from the boy, before slapping him and getting rid of him.

Left alone with Pride, they had a verbal confrontation. Pride told Barrett he knew he wanted a spectacle, but the media was going to grow bored eventually. He tried to convince the cult leader that his endgame should not involve children. Pride convinced Barrett to let the children leave.

Just when Pride thought he had gotten through to Barrett -- they both watched as the children left the compound -- the cult leader put into action his plan. He had his people shoot at the feds that were moving the children.

The NCIS squad meanwhile found blueprints of old moonshine tunnels and used them to get into the house. They received a tip from Pride who told one of the children to pass on the message that the house was rigged.

Agents Tammy Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) and Sebastian Lund (Rob Kerkovich) found it once they knew to look for it -- the house was wired with explosives and Sebastian worked on shutting it down.

At the same time, Barrett fired at the federal officers, who fired back. They came in and Barrett realized he couldn’t set off the bomb in the basement. He tried to set it off, but Sebastian had already defused it. Barrett ran. He had an exit plan: the tunnels. But Pride followed him.

Pride had him cornered. But not wanting to be taken alive, Barrett pushed Pride. He revealed he knew where Pride’s daughter was. He could get them at any time. Pride then shot and killed him.

Pride later claimed Barrett went for his gun, but his team didn’t believe him, even as they covered for him with the FBI. Pride held off on giving a statement because he wanted some alone time to see Lasalle’s grave and tell his late friend that they got the bast**d that killed him.

'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 6 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. only on CBS.
