'Mystic Pop-up Bar' Episode 10: Weol-ju finds out who Gwi really is, but the whole truth is yet to be revealed
'Mystic Pop-up Bar' Episode 10 begins with a shocking reveal. Turns out Gwi is the Crown Prince from 500 years ago. He made a deal with Ms. Underworld, which allowed him to be at Weol-ju's side if he performed well at the Afterlife Police Academy. It is after he does well that he begins assisting Weol-ju, but doesn't tell her who he really is.
With the arrival of the woman who addressed him as Crown Prince, we now come to know that there is more to how Weol-ju's mother died than the queen sending men to assassinate her. However, if Gwi were to tell the truth to her, she wouldn't have accepted his help, let alone be by his side. Now that Weol-ju is close to completing her punishment, all her enemies from the past are cropping up again to wreak havoc on her plans.
For one, the woman who recognized Gwi as the Crown Prince was the queen in her previous life. After an accident, she ended up recalling everything about her past life and now, she knows the truth and wants to clear the misunderstanding between Gwi and Weol-ju but things don't work out as she planned. Gwi interrupts every time she tries to tell the truth. The reason the Crown Prince beheaded his best friend Won-hyun which has resulted in the man turning into an evil spirit now out for revenge seems to be the reason why Weol-ju and her mother had to die.
Kang-bae, on the other hand, is worried sick about Weol-ju who signed a contract to go to Hell of Extinction with Samsin. She did this to learn the secret about the holy stone that was reborn as a female to help Kang-bae with his condition. This has Kang-bae feeling extremely guilty, so he even refuses to find the next customer for Weol-ju to help. He is so frustrated that he ends up blurting out the truth about the contract to Gwi and Mr. Death. Gwi, who has been working hard to ensure that Weol-ju completes her punishment and gets another chance at life is extremely pissed that Weol-ju made such a huge decision without his knowledge.
He hurries over to confront Weol-ju who explains that she now has no interest in being reborn or moving on to heaven. She is obstinate and even tells Gwi that living as a human being has become something that she is now tired of. However, Gwi is unable to give up on her and hence he ends up signing a contract of his own with the god of Underworld. He offers to go to the Hell of Extinction in Weol-ju's place and when he sorts this out, he lies to Weol-ju that he was able to use the secrets that he had found out while serving in the Afterlife Police Agency.
However, neither Weol-ju nor Gwi have figured out that there is an enemy among them. Mr. Death has been possessed by the evil spirit of his son, Won-hyun, who has been following Gwi and Weol-ju for revenge. In fact, it is Won-hyun who has been placing obstacles in Weol-ju's path to stop her from completing the punishment on time to ensure that she will now go to Hell. So he tries to use the queen's reincarnation, and when that doesn't help, he ends up killing her as well.
Kang-bae, in the meantime, seems to be the only one who has good things going on in his life. Turns out Yeo-rin is the woman who is the stone's reincarnation. After Kang-bae stands up for Yeo-rin when she is insulted by one of her former crushes, it opens up an honest conversation between the two and both of them confess their feelings for each other. Once this relationship takes off successfully, there is not much that worries Weol-ju.
However, towards the end of the episode, Weol-ju comes to the realization that Gwi is not who he says he is after she hears Kang-bae use a few lines that her lover had told her in the past. Kang-bae tells her he heard it from Gwi and that's when Weol-ju realizes that something about Gwi had always been off. Especially when he spoke about Weol-ju's life or her past. The next episode will see the truth surface completely and we cannot wait.
