'My 600-lb Life': What does Samantha Mason do for a living? Here's why she eats for other people's pleasure

'I just eat what I want and they pay for it, as long as I film it. So that’s how I make a living and keep going, and it makes me feel appreciated so I’m happy to do it'

The premise of 'My 600 lb-Life' is simple. Over a few episodes, new clients show up at Dr Younan Nowzaradan's (Dr Now) doorstep for bariatric surgery. Mostly, they weigh above 600 pounds and are hoping to get back to some sort of normalcy by going under the knife. But will that help alone? The clients must bring a noticeable change in their eating habits and adopt a sustainable workout regime if they wish to see changes.

Samantha Mason, the first to appear on the Season 9 premiere episode that aired on December 30, Wednesday, has been struggling with weight so much so that she cannot arrange for transport to visit Dr Now.

What does Samantha do for a living?

She “chose to start fetish modeling”, Hollywood Life reported. “I eat for people,” she told the publication and added: “I just eat what I want and they pay for it, as long as I film it. So that’s how I make a living and keep going, and it makes me feel appreciated so I’m happy to do it.” Even though this puts Samantha at greater risk, healthwise, her daughter admits that the gig helped her mother gain confidence.

"Self-image really improved after she started that modeling job. It kind of makes her happier because those people just find her as beautiful. They find her as a human being, not some huge maniac," the daughter added.

What is bariatric surgery?

It's a medical procedure that is opted when an individual has reached a worrying Body Mass Index causing life-threatening health issues, and exercise and dietary changes have not helped. The end goal of the surgery is to get the digestive system tweaked enough so that it holds less food, resulting in fat loss. Most of these are performed using minimally invasive techniques, ASMBS reported.

Who was the biggest person on 'My 600-lb Life'?

Samantha was 811lbs when she weighed herself last six months ago. Even though that is on the heavier side, she may not be the heaviest person to have ever appeared on the show. Sean Milliken, who featured in one of the episodes in 2016, weighed 900 pounds. Sadly, he passed away in 2019 owing to an infection, the details of which are not known yet, Pop Culture reported.
