Miss USA 2024: Internet baffled as Miss Kentucky Connor Perry finishes as runner-up in the beauty contest
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Miss Michigan, Alma Cooper, was crowned Miss USA 2024 after emerging victorious in the highly anticipated annual pageant held at the prestigious Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Despite facing tough competition, Alma managed to beat out Miss Kentucky, Connor Perry, to secure the coveted title. On the other hand, what shocked the fans was Connor emerging as the runner-up.
Many viewers expressed surprise and disbelief at Connor's runner-up position. Some viewers even went as far as to suggest that Connor didn't deserve to be ranked in the top 2 at all. The unexpected turn of events left many questioning the judges's decisions and sparked heated debates among fans of the pageant.
One social media user wrote, "How was Kentucky 1st runner up with that answer !?"
Another user chimed in, "My thoughts exactly. Kentucky and Ohio needed to switch places! Ohio was robbed!!! Michigan had it in the bag though. Her and Oklahoma and Ohio had the strongest answers."
Followed by a user who penned, "I believe everything is 1/3 of the overall score if the final look isn’t judged. Otherwise everything is 1/4 of the overall score. Nothing holds more weight than another. Her and Michigan could’ve been tied the entire time and then at onstage question Kentucky completely blew it and Michigan was able to pull ahead."
A fourth user commented, "I'm not sure how they factor the q&a into the decisionmaking but it looks as if they based their decision on the OVERALL performance of the delegate and not just the question. In the past we've had a few Miss USA winners who either did not do well or did not give the strongest answer in the Q&A part of the competition but still won. Clearly, the judge's really liked Kentucky but given the strength of Michigan's answer in addition to her performance she deserved to win. Look for her to make a splash at Universe, I think people are gonna sleep on her like they did R'Bonney..."
