Viewers are calling out Netflix's 'Messiah' for hurting religious sentiments and its political propaganda
The first season of 'Messiah' released on Netflix on the first day of the new year. Though the show has a predictable storyline combined with political propaganda, fans are loving the show. However, there are people who are adamant that the show hurts religious sentiments and are calling on others to boycott the show.
When the trailer released in early December 2019, many fans pointed out that the show would be about the False Messiah, or rather Al-Masih al-Dajjal, and had already decided to boycott the show as well as the streaming service.
However, after the show released, though some say that the show is not outrightly Islamaphobic, other viewers disagree. One viewer tweeted, "This #MessiahNetflix show is against 2 billion Muslims all around the world. This is not how messiah will come and this is another wrong message from Islam. #shameonNetflix."
Another viewer tweeted, "I'm disgusted by #Netflix new series “#Messiah”! It shows a reckless Islamic-false-Messiah who speaks in Allah’s name and is against Israel. The world is being ushered into the greatest deceit ever! Mark 13:21-22 I usually follow end-times signs, but that is making me sick!"
Viewers are especially upset because they believe the show is hurting sentiments across Abrahamic religions. One viewer tweeted, "The Messiah on Netflix is actually messed up. True fact — this whole thing is believed to happen in Islam #TheMessiah."
Another shared, "Ngl #Messiah just looks like another bit of islamophobia propaganda," while another wrote, "I think its more of a conditioning technique that Hollywood subtly does. I feel that young minds these days can be easily influenced and even if it is just a show it still can mess with the young minds. Condition them to accept antichrist."
All episodes of Season 1 of 'Messiah' are now airing on Netflix.
