WASHINGTON, DC: First Lady Melania Trump was seen spreading some festive cheer as she visited children at the Children's National Hospital in Washington DC on Friday, December 6.

Instead of wearing the traditional red and green, Melania Trump was seen in a $1,120 turquoise Prada pencil skirt which matched the color of the book she read, 'Oliver the Ornament Meets Belle'.

The 49-year-old sported a dark brown turtleneck which was tucked into the bright skirt. She complimented the outfit with a pair of brown suede heels and finished off the look with a thick leather belt.

The mother-of-one let her hair down loose over her shoulders and sported minimal jewelry.

The White House revealed that she toured a short-stay unit as well as a surgical unit at the hospital. She also spent some time with patients in a playroom and helped them make snowflakes. Later, she was seen at the children-filled atrium for the reading.

She held hands with patient Declan McCahan who was seen in a blazer and tie, and was seen beaming as she took her seat between McCahan and another patient, Sammie Burley.

The area had been cordoned off and featured a massive Christmas tree that was placed behind the group. There was also a Santa Claus and Mrs Claus seen sitting to FLOTUS' right.

Melania's visit is a continuation of a six-decade tradition where every first lady since Bess Truman has visited the hospital in order to meet children who are too sick to be discharged during the holidays.

FLOTUS chose to read the seven-book series 'Oliver the Ornament Meets Belle' and the sequel to the one she read at the hospital last December, 'Oliver the Ornament'.

After the reading, McCahan handed Melania a bouquet of flowers that had been wrapped up in red and white ribbon.

She was then seen greeting patients in the audience and was seen shaking hands with the children.

It has been a very festive week for Melania who had recently unveiled the White House 2019 Christmas decorations.
