Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland knew Prince Harry was 'The One' for her daughter at first meeting
SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA: Doria Ragland, the mother of Meghan Markle, has confessed that she instantly knew Prince Harry was 'The One' for her daughter because of his politeness, red hair, and charming looks.
The 66-year-old American social worker made a guest appearance in the couple's explosive Netflix series and recalled the beginning of the royal couple’s romance. During her cameo, the producer questioned her regarding the first time Meghan told her about her brewing romance with Harry in 2016. Doria said she was on a call with Meghan when she told her, "Mommy, I'm going out with Prince Harry."

"I started whispering [and said] 'oh my god!'" Doria said to the camera in the second episode of ‘Meghan & Harry'. Meghan informed her mother during their phone conversation that she had to keep her relationship a secret. "She says, ‘You can’t tell anyone.’ So it was from the beginning, it was sort of, ‘Oh, my God, nobody can… you know?’" the 66-year-old explained.
Doria went on to discuss her initial thoughts on her son-in-law, although she remained mum regarding the location or timing of their initial meeting. "He was this 6'1 handsome man with red hair, [he had] great manners. He was just really nice. They look really happy together." Doria continued, "He was The One".
The mother then went on to explain how the public and media perception turned their initial romance into ‘novelty’. “He was just really nice and they looked really happy together, like he was the one. Once it was announced that they were together it seemed kind of like a novelty.”
The six-episode documentary series also captured the royal couple revealing that they had little defense against royal officials, and as part of a "dirty game," aides deliberately leaked information and "fabricated stories" against them. Meghan says, "I realized, they're never going to protect you," after a series of clips of photographers and newspapers being printed. She is then seen crying before Harry adds, "I was terrified, I didn't want history to repeat itself."
However, a number of reports have claimed that most of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's well-known celebrity friends and their families have snubbed their sensational series. Key allies including Elton John, Vogue editor Edward Enninful, Prince Harry's "surrogate dad" and music producer David Foster, have avoided the series, according to the DailyMail. Oprah Winfrey and former US President Barack Obama are rumored to have shunned the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as well.
