LONDON, UK: The internet is divided over Meghan Markle's supporters' claims that the Duchess of Sussex was the only member of the Royal Family to cry at Queen Elizabeth's funeral. During the emotional ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19, Prince Harry's wife was spotted wiping away tears. A fan named ‘SussexDetective’ took a screenshot of it and wrote on Twitter, “Meghan being the only one who cried for the Queen…. Sums up everything really.”

"Meghan and Harry have both always maintained that they deeply respect and have had a wonderful relationship with the Queen and that the Queen was always very good to them. She’s crying because the Queen was probably the only person who was kind to her," yet another user remarked. The remark provoked outrage on Twitter, as other fans sent images of Royals who were visibly crying. Images from the momentous occasion showed young Princess Charlotte sobbing in public and King Charles' eyes welling up with emotions as he gazed at his mother's casket in the abbey. When Catherine, Princess of Wales, arrived in the funeral cortege at the Abbey, she was clearly trying to hold back tears as her eyes were swollen with grief.

Prince Edward could also be seen sobbing into a handkerchief while his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Wessex, was dabbing tears from her eyes. Prince Andrew sobbed as he walked behind the royal coffin on his way to Westminster at one point in the service, and Prince George was also sad. As the funeral party made its way back to Buckingham Palace, Queen Consort Camilla also looked sad at Wellington Arch. Many users on social media were also not impressed with Meghan crying at Queen's funeral.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born in Bruton Street, Mayfair, London on 21 April 1926. She married Prince Philip in 1947 and ascended the throne of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth on 6 February 1952 after the death of her Father, King George VI. Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8, 2022, and is succeeded by her eldest son, King Charles III.

"There is something extremely hypocritical about meghan 'crying.' Mourning the head of an institution and the matriarch of a family that she and her husband have put through the mud over the last 2 and a half years. A woman who a few days before her death they refused to visit," yet another user added. According to Daily Mail, Meghan was also seen struggling to control her emotion as the Queen's coffin departed the Abbey on its way to Windsor Castle, where she will be laid to rest alongside Prince Philip. Earlier, shortly after the Queen's death, Harry released a statement on the Archewell website that he shares with Meghan. The statement read, "In celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen – and in mourning her loss – we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty."

"She was globally admired and respected. Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings – from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren. I cherish these times shared with you, and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the world over. And as it comes to first meetings, we now honor my father in his new role as King Charles III," the statement added.

The internet was quick to react to the tweet of the user. One person said, "People just saying anything on this app lmaooo i can't." Another said, "Ahh, she was crying.... Pure soul. If only they cared so much for you, Meghan." A third, who was definitely not a fan of Meghan, said, "She is crying because she won't have her little money treasure anymore. Shame on Meghan trash. She made money of the Queen and the Royal Family. I don't believe her crocodile tears."  Another person, critical of the tweet, said. "There is something extremely hypocritical about meghan "crying". Mourning the head of an institution and the matriarch of a family that she and her husband have put through the mud over the last 2 and a half years. A woman who a few days before her death they refused to visit."
