Meghan Markle stuns in minidress and bold red lip, fans hail return to her 'pre-duchess' style
Meghan Markle delighted her fans on Sunday when she wore a white Valentino mini dress and a striking red lip for an evening reception for athletes of the Invictus Games. She aced her glamourous look with sleek side-parted curls and a chocolate-hued Khaite shoulder bag. The duchess’s latest fashion choice was reminiscent of her pre-royal days when her style was edgier and bolder — Meghan wore red lipstick ONLY twice during her time as a senior working member of the royal family.
So far at the Invictus Games, Meghan has wowed in a variety of stylish looks. From the monochromatic Valentino suit at the Games reception to the elegant off-the-shoulder bodysuit, while making her speech at the Opening Ceremony, her style transformation is there for all to see.

“I love that Meghan is wearing a beautiful ‘sod off we’re living a fantastic life’ dress with a gorgeous ‘I’m so glad I’m no longer a royal’ shade of lipstick,” tweeted Journalist Lorraine King. “The dress and red lip is giving pre-duchess vibes,” another person commented on Instagram, while a third exclaimed, “missed her in that lip color!!! That stuffy institution would have never let her wear that color!!!”

Meghan rarely wore red lipstick while working as a senior royal family member — she mostly opted for the pink-nude lipstick. However, Meghan wore a dark, berry lipstick for her appearance at the premiere of Cirque du Soleil's Totem show in 2019, and again at the 2020 Endeavour Fund Awards, one of her and Prince Harry’s final official appearances as members of the monarchy.
Meghan Markle’s Invictus Games style
Meghan and Prince Harry arrived in the Netherlands after making a stop in the UK where the couple visited Harry's grandmother Queen Elizabeth. It was the couple's first joint visit to the UK since they quit as working royals back in the year 2020. The Invictus Games, which run until Friday, April 22, have become somewhat of a tradition for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The 2017 Toronto Games marked the couple's first official appearance together.
Meghan started off strong, wearing an all-white power suit by Valentino at the welcome reception on Friday. She pulled it all together with a white leather handbag and white pumps. The heels had a pointed toe and 3-inch heel. The shoe style tied her look together seamlessly and provided a polished finish.
During the Land Rover challenge, the duchess was spotted wearing a chasseur jacket in black tweed and a black bag by Celine over a plain white top, Moussy denim jeans, and two-toned beige and black flats by Chanel. She wore sunglasses by Linda Farrow and styled her hair in a ponytail.
When she took the stage during the opening ceremony, she looked elegant in an off-the-shoulder bodysuit that featured a plunging neckline, a textured knot detail, and a stretchy cotton jersey bodice. The duchess tucked it into tailored smoking pants and kept her jewelry minimal.
