Meghan Markle's ally slams palace for response to Gayle King revelations: 'It's okay if you leak it to paper?'
It's been 10 days since the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry interview with Oprah Winfrey aired. Since then, Piers Morgan has quit 'Good Morning Britain' and US TV host Gayle King has declared Meghan Markle has proof of all the explosive allegations she made during the interview. King also shared on 'CBS This Morning' that Harry's talks with the palace 'were not productive' and that Markle wasn't happy that no one from the Royal family had called her. King said the former actor had "documents to back up everything she said on Oprah's interview."
However, King's revelations did not do go down well with Buckingham Palace. A Daily Mail report said a senior royal source claimed "None of the households – the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – will be giving a running commentary on private conversations," and slammed King's alleged 'breach of trust' by airing dirty laundry in public. However, an ally of Meghan Markle and Harry, Omid Scobie, called out the royal family's double standards in a tweet. Scobie is the co-author of the former Duke and Duchess's biography 'Finding Freedom'.
His tweet came in response to articles saying that the palace wasn't happy about King sharing details about the 'unproductive' conversations that have allegedly taken place between Harry and his brother William, and father, Charles.

Scobie had tweeted: "Bit confused here, so just want to get this new royal protocol correct. It’s okay when info is leaked to the papers via a palace source but not when Gayle King shares it on TV? Righty-ho then." He was met with subtle criticism as social media users pointed out why the two 'leaks' cannot be compared.
One user said: "The point is that private phone calls are openly discussed with personal media friends. This is the very reason Meghan cut off her family." Another tweeted: "Omid - I don’t think it was a very clever savvy move to disclose something like this via Gayle King. It’s a poor move which benefits no one."

King, who is friends with both Oprah Winfrey and Meghan, made the claims and dropped bombshell updates on the alleged tension between the family members during her TV appearance on Tuesday March 16. She told viewers she called the couple "over the weekend" in the wake of the interview and the mixed response it received. "Well I'm not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling, and it's true, Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too. The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive. But they are glad that they have at least started a conversation."
King also alleged that 'the Palace' had been leaking supposed 'untrue' stories to the media. "And I think what is still upsetting to them is the Palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still," she added, saying: "No one in the Royal Family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time."
She added: "It's frustrating for them to see that it's a racial conversation about the royal family when all they wanted all along was for the royals to intervene and tell the press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant. And until you can acknowledge that, I think it's going to be hard to move forward. She also raised the issue of the investigation launched earlier this month by Buckingham Palace into how claims of bullying against Meghan lodged by a senior member of staff were handled. Anyone who has worked with her will tell you exactly who she is. You know, she's really a very sweet, caring person."
All of this comes after Meghan Markle alleged in the CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey that before her son Archie's birth, there was an unnamed royal who raised concerns about the child's skin color and how dark it might be. She also claimed when she had "suicidal thoughts", the palace refused to get her professional help, saying it would look bad on "the institution". Harry also called his father and brother "trapped" as he once was, and revealed he felt "let down" by their treatment towards them.
