'Mayans MC' Season 2 will be more violent and will put to test the bonds of brotherhood and family

There are things that were swept under the rug in season 1, which are still lingering around and need to be dealt with

No matter how much you praise Kurt Sutter and Elgin James' 'Mayans MC', it is still not enough.

The show, as per Sutter, sprung from the womb of 'Sons of Anarchy', but with time became its own mythical creature, takes place four years after the events of its parent show 'Sons of Anarchy' and focuses on the struggles of EZ Reyes (J. D. Pardo), a prospect in the charter of the Mayans MC.

When 'Mayans MC' concluded its season 1, it answered one of the biggest questions floating throughout the season. EZ has put together all the pieces and comes to the conclusion that Happy Lowman (David Labrava, who reprises his role from 'Sons of Anarchy') has murdered his mother. This means that EZ and his brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas) will be hot in pursuit and it will be now that we will see this addressed.

There are other loose ends at the end of the first season that we hope will also be addressed. Emilio Rivera's Alvarez decides to work for Miguel Galindo and the cartel. But it is never revealed why he left—something we look forward to for in season 2.

Also at the end of season 1, the Mayans have made a deal with Galindo, (Danny Pino) who has also made a deal with Los Olividados. This association for them is golden—it could mean anything from more money and more opportunities to finally, and hopefully, more freedom. Before this deal, the Mayans were just doing their best to survive in the desert but now they have a place. A place from where the only way is up.

In a little sneak peek released by the network, EZ says that fans should expect season 2 to be different compared to its predecessor. "In season 2, when it comes to bloodshed and violence, I think it is different this time. Maybe it's a little bit of an ignorant thing with EZ where he feels like he could come back to being himself a little bit and be a part of the club. But he is going to find quickly that that is not the case."

For EZ's father Felipe (Edward James Olmos) season 2 will bring more confrontational situations - with himself. He has secrets hidden away in a box for 27 years, a box that EZ opens up. We are yet to see what will happen when Felipe comes face to face with these secrets.

There are things that were swept under the rug in season 1, but they are still lingering around.  Nothing comes easy to the Mayans - it is all about survival. We expect season 2 to be more violent, to feature more bloodshed and question the foundations of brotherhood and family.

'Mayans MC' airs on September 3 on FX at 10 pm ET.
