Season 10 of Fox’s culinary reality show ‘MasterChef’ was touted as the biggest season of the series. As we wait for the finale to air in a few more hours, we wanted to quickly revisit some of the most memorable moments from season 10. This season saw a mix of heart-warming and gut-wrenching moments. Here are the top five memorable moments from this season:

1.     Gordon Ramsay licking Fred’s chocolate cake clean off the plate

When 24-year-old Fred described his dish during the auditions, the judges seemed a bit amused by his lengthy description. Fred baked a black vinegar infused chocolate cake with mascarpone cream, caramelized white chocolate, burnt miso ganache, togarashi walnut crumble, chocolate twigs and edible flowers. Honestly, we could sing songs of how beautiful and visually delightful the pristine white cake looked. Judges Joe and Aaron took a bite and complimented Fred’s culinary skills, however, it was Gordon Ramsay’s reaction that won us over. Gordon who is known for being a harsh critic with little to no tolerance for mediocre food did something we never saw before - he licked the plate clean! When the beautiful cake was presented to him, he first took a forkful, then another, and kept going back. Finally, when there was no more of it left on the plate, he picked up the plate and began licking the plate for the last few crumbs of the sumptuous cake. The celebrity chef clearly took a liking to Fred, because when Fred was eliminated, Gordon offered to put him in touch with baker Christina Tosi.

2.     Joe Bastianich picking out Renee’s pasta from the trash

MasterChef kitchen can be stressful and grueling. The stress got to contestant Renee when during one of the challenges she found it very hard to get the pasta out of her pasta maker. At one point she got so frustrated that she threw her pasta into the trash. Joe, one of the judges, immediately came to her rescue and helped her salvage her dish. Fans were both disgusted and amused with Joe and Renee’s decision to salvage the pasta from the trash. With Joe’s help, Renee finally managed to complete preparing her pasta and went on to serve it to none other than chef Masaharu Morimoto, also known as the Iron Chef. It goes without saying that she did not win the challenge.

3.     Dorian’s little outburst at Subha

There is very little drama on MasterChef. The home cooks usually focus on cooking their dishes and presenting it to the judges. However, this season saw a bit of drama during one of the team challenges. Dorian, one of the participants on the show, was very rude and hostile towards a fellow participant Subha during a team challenge. This pair had a lot of trouble with carrying out the challenge. Dorian kept yelling at Subha and was generally rude to him. She was seen getting worked up, angrily slamming things around and rudely talking to Subha. Though the duo managed to secure their place in the next round, fans found Dorian’s treatment of Subha appalling and inexcusable. The pair have worked out their differences, and are good friends now, as reported by them to MEAWW.

4.      Gordon Ramsay competing with the participants

 Gordon Ramsay’s competitive nature came to play this season, when he decided to challenge himself. During one of the mystery box elimination challenges, the judges discuss amongst themselves about how challenging the task assigned to the home cooks was. The home cooks had to cook a meal in one cast-iron pan in 60 minutes. Gordon on an impulse says that he can do it in 30 minutes, and of course the celebrity judge manages to pull it off. He ends up serving the best lemon chicken pot pie made in 30 minutes.

5. Micah's unfortunate elimination

The episode featuring Micah's elimination was one of the most emotional episodes of the series. The 19-year old's elimination broke many hearts. His family didn't show up to support him and he hurt himself while cooking. It was very painful to watch his journey on MasterChef end in such an unfortunate manner. Fans felt that it was unfair of the judges to eliminate him. To date, many fans strongly feel that Micah should have been amongst the top 3 contestants of MasterChef.
