CHANDLER, ARIZONA: Mary Flip, who just turned 101, has had a fascinating and fulfilling life and a long one at that. According to her, tequila is the key to living a happy and long life like her.

Speaking to Arizona Family TV, Flip said she spent her early years in Illinois and revealed that her mother and sister died when she was young. At just 15, she ended up becoming the only surviving member of her family. Flip, who has survived the Great Depression, numerous wars, and the birth of six children, still retains her wit and charm. "How do you feel, Ma?" Flip’s daughter asked on her birthday. "With my hand," she replied, laughing.

After turning 18, Flip relocated to Mexico, got married, and led a quiet life as a rancher, as per FOX Carolina. After learning that she was pregnant, Flip went back to the US and settled in Chicago. She eventually gave birth to six children, developed her skills as an artist, and even had her talent recognized by the Chicago School of Art. "I really like to draw. And I was able to figure out that things change even as you're drawing them. So, I was able to develop and make them look real. It took time but I had nothing else to do except raise a bunch of kids," she told the outlet. When asked what her secret to a long life was, Flip replied, "Oh, my secret. Hmm, I don't know. Tequila."

Flip celebrated her birthday in style and treated herself to her favorite beer, Guinness. While addressing the media, she laughed and said, "Oh, I'll get up on the table," while her family and friends danced around her. After Arizona Family TV posted the article to Twitter, the social media platform was flooded with comments from people who wanted to wish Mary a happy birthday.

Someone commented, "Cheers and Happiest Birthday. Love your lip color, hair, smile and positive outlook!! Enjoy the day, week and new birth year !!" "Really a blessing to live 101 years old Happy birthday," another added. Others took Mary's suggestion and announced their plans to stock up on alcohol in an effort to live longer, "That’s it I'm going straight to the liquor store and buying several bottles of tequila," one user quipped. Another simply said, "Say no more," and accompanied their tweet with a GIF of a woman downing a shot.
