Marvel’s ‘WandaVision’ release date bumped up to 2020 on Disney+

Disney+ has announced that 'WandaVision' will be arriving a lot sooner than expected. The streaming site confirmed the Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany starrer will now arrive in 2020 instead of 2021

Marvel has made announcements about a slate of shows set to premiere on Disney's streaming site Disney Plus. 'WandaVision', one of the spin-off shows which is set after the events of 'Avengers: Endgame', was initially slated to release in 2021 with the show being introduced in the film 'Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness', starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

On Wednesday, Disney+ confirmed the show will drop in 2020. Disney+ released a video with a list of titles that would be featured on the streaming services in 2020 and said, "New year, new stories—and some familiar ones! From Toy Story 4 and Aladdin to Lizzie McGuire and Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, here’s a look at the blockbusters and Originals coming to #DisneyPlus in 2020."



 

The blockbusters include 'Toy Story 4', 'Aladdin', 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' and 'Stargirl' among others. 'WandaVision' will join the other Marvel release 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier'.

We will also see 'Mandalorian' Season 2, 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Season 2, and the 'Lizzie McGuire' reboot as part of the streaming services' original programming of 2020. Although, this is good news what we are most curious about is the 'WandaVision' introduction that was set to take place in the next 'Doctor Strange' movie.

The movie is still slated to release May 7, 2021. Does this mean, the audiences will be directly introduced to the show when it premieres in 2020? While it has been confirmed that 2020 is the year of release, Disney+ hasn't confirmed the date of release for the show. 

Speaking of the show, Olsen had said at the San Diego Comic-Con panel that "it’s gonna get weird." She added, "We’re gonna go deep, we’re gonna have lots of surprises, and we’re gonna finally understand Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch."
