'Marriage Story' starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver seems to have delivered on what it promised: An emotional drama that tugs at your heartstrings.

The film revolves around a married couple going through a difficult divorce and explores the greys between right and wrongs in personal relationships. The idea that love is a strange concept forms the crux of the film. 'Marriage Story' had a limited theatrical release on November 6 followed by a digital release on December 6.

The film seemed to have deeply affected viewers as many flooded Twitter with heartbreaking messages

"Marriage Story was devastating and honest and had two of the best performances I’ve seen in a long time. Can’t remember the last time a movie drained me so thoroughly," one viewer wrote.

"Marriage Story (2019) really filled my heart with sadness but in retrospect, no other film on marriage has fucked me up the way revolutionary road (2008) did. that film straight up BROKE ME. like, it ruined the concept of marriage for me," another tweeted.

Another viewer, who was left feeling like an emotional wreck, said, "I don’t know how I’m supposed go about my weekend now. Marriage Story has left me in a wreckage of my own emotion."

There was much praise for the performances as well. "Adam Driver did really well in Marriage Story," wrote one user.

One fan gave it a thumbs up and tweeted, "At any rate, Marriage Story is really good! It's now on Netflix! And it's definitely shorter than The Irishman!"

Many said they were left in tears: "Sobbing after watching marriage story gotta start drinking now," tweeted one.

"Cried about 30 times watching Marriage Story #yikes," tweeted another viewer.

'Marriage Story' is now streaming on Netflix.
